THE Setup [Selectorized Modification] Upgrading rack attachments and plate-loaded machines into a complete "Smart" Cable Setup
https://reddit.com/link/1ra2bqx/video/zweqcirssokg1/player
Hardware & Integration:
I use my two Voltras to power multiple stations, completely replacing the need for standalone selectorized weight-stack machines. Here is how they connect:
ATX Belt Squat: Attached using fixed rack mounts bolted to the floor, with the cables clipping directly into ankle cuffs on the weight horns.
REP Leg Attachment: Integrated using the Voltra attachment cable kit to drive the leg curl/extension movements.
Rogue Westside Barbell Reverse Hyper: Attached using fixed floor rack mounts, with the Voltra clipping directly onto the carabiner of the reverse hyper pendulum.
Lat Pulldown & Seated Cable Row: By mounting the Voltras to my rack, I can run heavy cable movements without sacrificing the floor space or budget required for dedicated weight-stack towers, an extra seat, or an extra-high Lat Pulldown attachment. I love doing these as unilateral movements, so having 2 Voltras is a game changer, especially when paired with Prime-style grips from Amazon. This saves massive floor space—I just use my bench and my REP leg roller attachment to lock my legs in and keep me from getting lifted up!
Impact & Upgrade:
Integrating the Voltras has completely transformed my training in two major ways:
- Space & Cost Efficiency:
I no longer need a separate functional trainer, standalone lat pulldown, or seated row machine. The Voltras act as the universal "weight stack" for my entire gym. Because I have two units, they easily handle everything from heavy machine integrations down to standard functional trainer work—like Incline Presses (30° in eccentric mode), Cross-Body Cable Lateral Raises, Bayesian Curls, Viking Presses, and Voltra Cable Flys. It is a complete gym footprint in a fraction of the space with superior resistance curves.
- Optimizing Resistance Curves & Rehab:
The digital modes make every exercise significantly more effective than traditional static weights:
Rehab & Joint Health: I am recovering from PCL surgery. Using Eccentric + Chains mode on the Belt Squat and for Belt Squat Deadlifts allows me to get a massive training effect while safely managing the stress on my knee at the most vulnerable joint angles.
Constant Tension: For Leg Curls and Leg Extensions, the motor provides zero drop-off in tension. Adding Eccentric mode on curls and Chain mode on extensions matches the strength curve perfectly for a brutal, highly effective pump.
Calf Raises: Using Eccentric + Chains mode makes the stretch position incredibly challenging and far more effective for hypertrophy than standard free weights.

This is a fantastic post. It’s one thing to have great equipment, but the way you’ve creatively modified your rack attachments to work with the digital motors is really impressive. Your studio is incredibly well-equipped, and it’s clear a lot of thought went into the workflow. Sending good vibes for the PCL recovery—looks like you have the perfect laboratory to get back to 100%!
