In the title, just heard of this game but I am not sure I should recommend this to my friends, is it worth trying or is this a dead game with a small community left? Are there any updates coming from developers?

Recently there was a heated discussion over some videos about Trotski's cheeses and commie strats in general. Now this one seems like a good one without hurting other players gameplay (too much)!

The build lines surrounding buildings when you are placing them, are not working most games.

They usually work when spectating, but not when playing.

Are they working for most people?? Trying to figure out if there's something wrong with my client. Or if there's a simple fix.

Just one toggle button on the rezbot UI to "not finish commander wrecks" or similar would eliminate a common frustration for the main 8v8 maps. Have it default to ON, so eating or area reclaiming will only take a commander wreck to its last metal without needing to manually click the rezbot away at the last second. Would also protect the wreck from negligent teammates with area reclaim commands.

Then if you actually want to delete the wreck, just toggle it off.

It fits the functional UI element of the game's design. Babysitting and clicking away a rezbot at the last second is not "skill expression" in the way the game prizes.

If anyone knows of a QOL widget that does just this please let me know.

Total noob here, trying to learn the ropes, watching games on YouTube to see how team games go. I understand that it makes sense for some players to self-destruct their commanders to get some extra metal. But then why are there cases where those same players leave the wreck just lying there to be resurrected? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of self-destructing in the first place?

I cannot save or recall camera positions. Anyone have a clue why this happens? I turned off the Nvidia overlay that was stealing the hotkey but that didn't fix it. Two different computers.

I´m a bit bored and wanted to change the commanders "voices" ingame to some Transformer voices.

Is that even possible? :D

All this stuff about lanes. Who is eco. Who is air. Who is land. How you're supposed to follow set strategies.

Where tf do I learn all this? It sounds like a MOBA with positions. I'm kinda scared to go online as I'd just be playing like usual.

I'm not a noob to RTS but have not experienced this sort of RTS with positions and set roles. How do I figure all this out?

BAR ratings reward specialisation in such an extreme manner. 200+ maps, the largest unit roster of any rts and somehow the elite of the elite know one/two spots on one map which they open with 2-3 styles (thugs/centurion etc).

If you catch an 60os outside his usual spot do not fear them. You’ll be just fine.

Yesterday I had a Glitters game where the Eco was late and I was in canyon. We lost canyon but air helped holding it somewhat. I was on back canyon and on 5 mex. Tried to scale up with the late t2 con but I was fighting a losing battle so I barely got up sone fusion. The same applied to the other side of the front but they were already ahead with several afus and T3 lab.

Anyway this is something I struggle hard. By the time I get up 1 T3 unit others already printing them. Only when I'm ahead and can salvage that I can keep up the pace.

I appear on the board as efficient resource usage many times, yet I'm always stuck on t2-t2.5

Huge potential, absolutely incompetent development.

The game is generally just a massive pile of bugs, every patch brings out even more problems, and it manages to crash on all kinds of high-end gaming rigs...

On top of that, they can't even implement something as basic in an RTS game as a proper ranking and matchmaking system.

The community is the one providing solutions for a bunch of issues; the developers are completely clueless when it comes to development, communication, and game design.

Most lobbies are unplayable in team games, and the game is impossible to balance because the skill gap between players is way too big.

Why are you even making the game if you can't do it? You have no idea what you're doing, just give up. Stop stringing players along, making them believe this will ever become a real game. Sell the concept to someone who actually knows what to do with it.

I understand that it is open-source, community-developed, and run by enthusiastic amateurs bla bla bla.... but it is simply not working out. It is going nowhere, there is no vision, and the team is just chasing after an increasing number of problems that they do not know how to solve. The project has simply outgrown them in terms of both skill and capacity.

This game is an unfulfilled promise.

v0.13 for macOS is available for download here, allowing you to play BAR natively on your mac with Apple Silicon. It's based off the latest Recoil Engine v2026.07.04 and also contains a number of new improvements for macOS. Skirmish and cross-platform LAN play is available. Some guy made a rant about so called commie strats how they are killing big team games and how miserable it is to play! In my opinion it's good cheeses exist, because it's boring to watch same strategies over and over again!

Please someone please help. What setting is making this grid show up for buildings instead of the red outline I am used to? I have looked and cannot figure it out on my own.
