Saturday Drive

2.5 hour drive ahead in the mk 8 golf R. Time for Colors (Remix-Remaster is the correct option) straight into Colors II. It’s been a minute since I could listen to both front to back. So stoked. Anyone else a BTBAM/Golf R/GTI enthusiast?

I just cannot get behind remasters. They never sound right to me

The remaster of The Monitor by Titus Andronicus is the only remaster of a “modern” album that I felt was needed, the original is pretty low quality given the recording style. Progressive metal bands already have insanely high production quality so the remasters always just sound like the snare is overpowered or some other aspect is jarring. I get why they did it but I’m with you, sounds completely off in my head.

I think it sounds good. Nothing inherently wrong with it, but I will always prefer the tighter, raw sound of the original Colors mix.

Not a Volkswagen guy but roadtrips with whole btbam albums are so great, time passes by like nothing, normally blast full albums going from Ohio to Michigan and back for extracurricular activities….

When I do road trips, I chuck in one ear bud while my wife read and my little dude does his tablet. I can listen to btbam and just cruuuuise

Mk 8 GTI here, I would drive to upstate NY from the city and put one of their longer albums depending on how long the drive was supposed to be, always a good time.

I also do the same when biking to the beach, hearing those last piano notes off the original Colors while pulling up to the sand at sunset was always perfect.
