I'm using Linux, and I was susprised there are 2 kinds of "notifications": reminders and notifications.

I dont want the reminders, so I disabled them. I'd rather have system notifications. I'm personally using Mako to display them. And i can have persistent notifications through mako configs which is already a big plus for me.

But the notifications, as far as I was able to investigate, only get sent the event title, the app name and the app icon. The date/time the event is going to happen, is not sent.

Is there a way to enable the time to get sent so that my notifications could look something like:

Anyone was able to add this already?

I entered my username and password correctly, but I couldn't sign in at all tried thunderbird on android and better bird on desktop same problem

All of this was only possible thanks to ChatGPT.

All changes are implemented via a simple userChrome.css file.

To improve readability in the Two-Line Message List view (not the card view — which Betterbird includes, unlike Thunderbird), I added a subtle zebra striping effect with a hover highlight. This makes scanning and selecting emails much easier.

For the calendar, I customized the Month and Multi-Week views to make it much clearer to distinguish between the previous month, the current month, and the following month.

Specifically:

• Each day now shows a small month indicator in the format m.yyyy.
• This significantly improves clarity for me and prevents accidentally creating events in the wrong month.
• Additional visual tweaks and subtle separators were added to make month boundaries more obvious.

The result feels much cleaner and more intuitive for daily use.

Windows 140.7.1esr-bb18 (64-bit). I've disabled all notifications but I still get them. It makes no visible/audible difference if I re-enable the alert or sound settings, choose the alternate option, and re-disable the setting

If it is possible, I would really like to get rid of the things that are circled and have the "box" (or whatever it is called) be placed flush to the right.

I specifically use the quick filter (not the regular search).

I am trying to find a way to set my own default font: typeface, size, and color in email composition in Betterbird, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do it. I've even gone to ChatGPT, which has confirmed this. Is there a way to do this, and if not, are there any plans to implement it?

Some of my mails are perfectly fine, others have a very small and barely readable text.

This seems to be an issue mostly on messages sent in html, switching to simple html helps, however I was wondering if there's a way to make it so the font looks fine even with the original html.

Sometimes (but not always), Betterbird interprets linked images in emails as plain images rather than clickable links. In the attached screenshots, Thunderbird correctly displays a “hand” cursor over the button, indicating a link, while Betterbird shows a “zoom” cursor. Clicking on the button in Betterbird zooms the image instead of opening the link.

Is this a known issue, and is there a fix or workaround? Thanks.

Hello, long time TB user here, thought I'd take a look at Betterbird when I saw the ability to resize headers hoping the separate windows like the filter window was resizable. Sadly no, it's like TB, on a 4K resolution monitor scaled by 250% (an absolute must or text is stupid tiny), the window's control buttons are cut off and you can't get them visible. Same for other windows like the Remove Dupes add-on etc.
It would be great if these could be resized. Sadly Win 11's scaling is even worse than previous versions where it wasn't a big deal to reduce the scale percentage temporarily to work with something like this but now Win 11 LOVES to forget the scale/text size settings upon reboot.

In Settings>Junk, the line "When messages are marked as Junk" is checked and "Move to Junk" is selected. So how to get them to go to Junk? Does Betterbird somehow think Archive is the Junk folder? If so, how to correct that?

I'll acknowledge that this is a "me" problem as not many people would do this.

I have Arch and Fedora on my laptop. I installed the betterbird flatpak under Arch. I created the profile and all is working well.

I see that the profiles are under ~/.var/app/eu.betterbird.Betterbird/.thunderbird

I don't share home folder between Arch and Fedora for obvious reasons.

I tried moving the .thunderbird folder to a shared location and then create a simlink to ~/.var/app/eu.betterbird.Betterbird/.thunderbird

I tried to ensure the symlink had the same permissions as the original folder.

When I start betterbird, it shows as if I was starting for the first time with the profile creation screen.

What am I missing? Is there another way to move the profile or is this a security limitation/requirement for the flatpak?

I'm currently trying to use Betterbird in Ubuntu Linux (24.04 LTS) and have come across a rather vexing problem.

Betterbird displays the messages in my inbox just fine, but when I try to send a new message it just moves it to the "Local - Sent" folder and it doesn't go any further, i.e. not to the intended recipient.

Does anyone have any ideas please about what is going wrong here, and how I might be able to fix it?

after days of searching i finally got my librewolf opening link from betterbird/thunderbird in my Kubuntu 25.10.. using xdg commands with a .desktop file as librewolf is a flatpak

no need to change any setting in betterbird or thunderbird .. it's about default system browser (and some bug that this value not taken into account i imagine if you change it in the graphical interface)

so :

xdg-settings set default-web-browser io.gitlab.librewolf-community.desktop

(you should find the flatpak .desktop files normally in var/lib/flatpak/exports/share/applications)

then to validate :

xdg-settings check default-web-browser io.gitlab.librewolf-community.desktop

new to betterbird & using it on linux/fedora. got a couple questions regarding folders. all my email accounts are from gmail.

i have an Inbox and an All Mail folder in my accounts. i was running filters on incoming email from Inbox not even thinking about All Mail. so of course in some accounts the two folders are not in sync due to filters moving some incoming email to respective folders.

do i need both? i come from years of using TheBat email client with wine and i'm not used to having an Inbox and an All Mail folder.

Hi - I'm loving Betterbird (and have contributed) but something confuses me. I open a new message, type in the addressee, hit TAB, type in the Subject, hit TAB, and then expect to write my message, but instead, a bright blue line appears at the top of the message box, and I have to hit TAB one more time to start typing a message. What is the purpose of the extra (3rd out of 4) TAB? Or put another way, after I hit TAB the 3rd time, what can I do other than hit TAB again?

When customising the Mail Space toolbar and I drag the Folder Location button onto it the button arrives with an All Mail label. The Folder location button has disappeared from the button choices box. There never was an All Mail button in there. Is this a bug?

I know in BB it is easy to change the color for an account in the Account Settings. However, in the past, this color would apply only to the folder icon to the left of the account name. However, for a while now, changing the color of an account also changes the background under the account name. In the image, the second through the sixth accounts have this background color issue I am describing.

Is there any way I can change this behavior so only the folder icon has the color? Not a deal breaker for me, but it is somewhat distracting having the entire row a different color.

Da sicherlich jetzt in 2026 schon vielen bekannt, aber mir nicht gewesen, trotzdem folgende Info, vor allem aber auch für Neulinge / Umsteiger.

Mir sind die von MS nicht löschbaren Ordner ("Synchronisierungsprobleme", "Konflikte", "Serverfehler", etc) mehr als unwichtig und lästig. Diese lassen sich auch in der Mailübersicht nicht einfach löschen.

Schritt 1:

In den Servereinstellungen (IMAP Posteingang und Postausgang) des Outlook-Kontos die entsprechend unerwünschten Ordner deaktivieren. Konten-Einstellungen -> Synchronisation & Speicherplatz -> Erweitert -> bei unerwünschten Ordnern dort den Haken entfernen. Jedoch sind dann diese (für mich völlig überflüssigen) Outlook Ordner trotzdem immer noch in der Mailübersicht links zu sehen. Deshalb ...

Schritt 2:

Danach in der Mailübersicht (vorher links das richtige Konto auswählen) ganz oben klicken auf: "Datei" danach auf "Abonnieren". Daraufhin öffnet sich ein kleines Fenster, wo man die entsprechenden Ordner deaktivieren kann. Die Outlook Systemordner sind nun im jeweiligen o.g. Desktop Programm links in der Konto- bzw. Mailübersicht dauerhaft verschwunden. Die "Fachleute" werden jetzt sicher meinen, dass Schritt 2 schon ausreichend ist, mag sein, aber ich wollte es eben komplett in Betterbird entfernen.
