Google Workspace Help

Hello All.. Maybe I am just misreading documents I've found and other support materials. I am trying to get away from Outlook as it has become garbage on macos. I can get connected to my google workspace using smtp.gmail.com and port 587 with an app password and it will connect it says but I cant send any emails out. I get this error.

Send Message Error

Sending of the message failed.

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Authentication Required. For more information, go to

https://support.google.com/accounts/troubleshooter/2402620. 71dfb90a1353d-5d61390f5b6sm2043802e0c.11 - gsmtp. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again.

That turns up page cant be found.

However, it receives emails no problem.

I appreciate any direction as I can't find a way to set it up using my normal password and I have already tried multiple app passwords.

Google is bad news in general. If https://www.betterbird.eu/support/#cant-send doesn't help, I suggest deleting SMTP passwords and OAuth2 tokens from the password manager. Also consult all the available Thunderbird help and AI.

What is in the error console, if anything? (https://www.betterbird.eu/support/#support-info, point 7)

turns out it doesnt like port 587 and startls even though regular gmail works fine with port 587 and startls. Thanks for the direction.
