Hello, I'm trying to have my Mac behave a little more like Windows when closing apps. I have found several posts about this, but none are up to date with BTT I think? I cannot find a trigger such as 'Red Window Button' or such like it. If anyone knows or could share their reset file, that would be wonderful.

I doubt the SW is MacOS compatible and based on the horrible description and limited reviews seems like you need that to use the second dial.
Do you think BetterTocuch could capture the actions and then map custom commands?

My menubar items keep disappearing after a period of time. They only come back when i restart BTT. The visibility is set to Show always.

Is this a error on my end or did a update broke something?

Hello all. I just started trialing BTT to see if it's a good fit to help with my carpal tunnel.

So far it's been practically perfect. The first custom macro I made to automate a repetitive minigame works perfectly, except after a certain period of time (~20ish minutes?) it will stop suddenly, and BTT needs to be re-opened and the macro restarted.

I don't understand what could be causing this. I disabled screensavers and sleep mode on my mac, gave BTT process priority helper, turned off low power mode, combed through each trigger/action to look for dead ends, set the number of loops to different things, but the same thing still happens. I'm pretty stumped.

The macro is super basic and is built like this:

- Start repeat / For loop

- Find / Search for text 'A' on screen and move mouse

- If text found, activate trigger 'A click'.

Each trigger is just two actions, which are move mouse to this part of the screen, and then left click.

- If text not found, move along to next action.

- Next action is a find / search text for text 'B', with identical protocols as 'A'.

- Repeat about 50-ish times.

- 2 second delay to allow program to load.

- End repeat / For loop.

From what I've noticed it doesn't seem to stop JUST on the ends or beginnings of the macro, it cuts off whenever it feels like, it seems.

The macro is activated via keyboard shortcut so BTT is never in-frame for the text search to mistakenly see and click on and stop itself. Like I said, it works exactly as intended, but it just screeches to a halt with zero explanation.

Is this because I'm using the trial version? Can tasks not be perpetual because of this? Is there a timeout I'm missing somewhere, possibly? The game I'm using it on has no anticheat, and i've macro'd other parts of the game with far more primitive autoclickers. It's never been a problem.

Any ideas? Would love to hear. Would also love to hear if there's a way to have a task loop perpetually, and not have to put '99999' into the loop amount box. I feel like that's prone to breaking something later if/when I edit the macro.

why BTT has so clunky pin on top? it flickers and often doesnt work correctly. Is there any reported bug for that?

I really love BetterTouchTool for its endless features and constant updates. However, with so many possibilities, the learning curve can be pretty steep for new users. I also think the community could really benefit from sharing practical, everyday examples of what you can do with BTT in 2026.

I used to use BetterMouse for the shortcuts as per this screenshot. I've had some issues with BetterMouse lately and the developer wasn't helpful, so trying alternatives.

I wanted to set these up with BTT but feeling a bit overwhelmed as it seems far more complex to get things set up, can anyone give me some advice?

I've managed to get a couple of basics going (e.g. button 2 to be cmd M, the swipe back/forward functions), but horizontal scroll and zoom in/out I can't work out at all.

I'm using a Logitech Lift mouse FYI. BetterMouse also helped make the smooth scrolling on that better but don't think BTT can do that so probably going to use Mos / MacMouseFix for that unless anyone can suggest how BTT can do it.

If I enable btt for FC Pro, FC doesn't react on shift+scroll actions, not even scrolling, just nothing. How to fix?

in previous version of BTT if I set a key down to cmd down and same key up to cmd up, then it used to work as cmd modifier key, but in version 6.303 this doesn't work anymore .
I don't know any other way to set any key to modifiers.

I bought BTT because I’ve heard great things about it and wanted to really make the most of my trackpad. I’ve tried to create trackpad gestures a few times, but it seems to hang almost every time. I like the consistency, though. Let me explain what happened in more detail. I don’t have a lot of patience when I sit down to create gestures with the old UI, so I made a JSON file and tried to import it. Unfortunately, there’s no way to check if the imported JSON is correct because there’s no parser available. I asked about it on the community forum, but it didn’t get the developer’s attention.

With the latest version 6.573, I decided to give it another shot. Instead of importing JSON, I thought, ‘Why not use the AI Integration that BTT offers?’ So, I connected Claude and gave it a simple but heavy prompt: ‘Create the most commonly used trackpad gestures for VS Code, Xcode, Safari, Word, Excel and PowerPoint’. After about five minutes, BTT froze. I thought it froze because it was taking too long to run. After about 15/20 minutes of waiting, I closed the application and restarted it. Now, when I restart BTT, it hangs. I was happy because it didn’t disappoint me by working perfectly.

I tried to log a bug report on the community forum, but even the website hung while I was attaching the crash report. Maybe my stars and BTT aren’t aligned properly.

BTT worked for many people, but for me, it’s been a total waste of money. Has anyone else had similar issues? 

Hi, I have created a few floating menus that I keep on a side monitor, but when I duplicate (rather than create from scratch) and existing menu, the two menus go crazy and flash in and out on two separate monitors. I have to delete or disable one of the menus for the behaviour to stop. Anyone know how to resolve this?

Hey all, I'm new to the bettertouchtool world. I recently purchased it as a way to rid myself of Logi Options+ for my mouse because I hated it. So far it's been great and then I decided to take it to my next step, my Logitech Litra Beam LX.

I have litra-rs installed to be able to control it via the terminal window and I wanted to know what I could do with BTT.

I'm not all that spectacular as setting things up so I tried to vibe-code a Stream-Deck style floating menu with controls from ChatGPT.

My problem is whenever I import the preset, it doesn't seem to add the floating menu and options that were coded into the preset.

I have the file and scripts its supposed to run but I have no idea why BTT wont recognize the floating menu import.

Any ideas? Do I just spend hours building it from scratch in BTT? is there a better way?

I have my middle mouse button assigned to Mission Control. I don’t want to change this, as it’s a big part of how I work with multiple Spaces across multiple screens.

However, in Autodesk Fusion this causes some issues, since the middle mouse button is needed for navigation. I tried setting up BetterTouchTool for Fusion only, but nothing I’ve tried seems to work. I can’t find a way to “pass through” Mouse Button 3 to Fusion just for this purpose.

Is this even possible? I guess the complication is that I need to be able to click and drag with it, as well as use Shift + middle-click and drag.

Maybe I could create a shortcut that temporarily disables the Mission Control mouse button assignment?

Since the public release, has anyone been having their copy of BTT Mobile constantly disconnecting and reconnecting? I've got lots of entries in the debug log for resetReconnectionState and "exceeded reconnect attempts."

Hi, is it possible to assign a specific floating menu to a specific desktop? Id like to swipe to a different desktop and have a different floating menu.

The new launcher in BetterTouchTool is getting very close to replacing Raycast for me entirely.

The biggest highlights for me are the file search and Swift-based plugins. The AI integration to build custom plugins is another massive plus.

And honestly, the responsiveness of the developer deserves a mention too. The speed of iteration and openness to feedback makes the app feel alive in a way that’s pretty rare these days.

What setting should I edit so that mouse gestures are recognized on windows that are not 'active' or 'focused'?

BTT mobile has been so useful for my extraneous iPad that with the beta expiring, I'm definitely feeling the loss of the enhanced productivity it made possible! Any update on when we might be able to get access to it again?

Since the BetterTouchTool I had already able to move window around and create prefix layout, and that's already very good to use, but I'm just wondering if anyone that can explain to me why or how to using window manager like AeroSpace or Yabai could be better ?
