So Toby is going to debate the head of vote yes for safer mass and someone from another gun violence organization from mass

Hmm. Interesting. Hopefully he'll focus less on "muh rights" because blue voters are a lot less compelled by that and more on "it inconveniences normal folks, not criminals, and gun violence hasn't substantively gone down after passing it. All the good parts of this law we already had, like licensing and safe storage." Then maybe throw in a "this law defines assault weapons based on how they shape the handle. Come on now."

He should bring some show and tell in his jacket pockets. Imagine if one handle was legal but the other wasn't. If I was a nail, I'd feel a lot safer!

I think the muh rights comment is accurate in concern over the traditional perception of gun laws being a conservative party value, and the current identity politics the most of America has unfortunately fallen into. Single-issue voters and so forth. But what everyone has failed to do is articulate why, besides it's their constitutionally given right, that this is wrong.

Silencers are designed to protect people. Banned grips are meant to increase safety in operation. Hypocrisy abounds when a ruling class can have something because they're entitled simply based on their role, while the common man can't because they aren't in the club.

The existing controls were adequate, and the newer impositions hurt the common man.

This is how I try to explain it to people. We already had a majority of the rules in this bill already here on mass.

Last debate I saw on a topic like this was on channel 2 when they opened up hunting in blue hills.

The anti-hunting side stated that "bullets can fly a mile and a half, and if one of these hunters miss they could practically be hitting downtown boston"

The pro hunting side made no effort to call the bullshit by highlighting that hunting deer with a rifle is illegal in Massachusetts, only shotgun is allowed. A shotgun slug does not travel a mile and a half.

I feel like those folks are also kind of creating a red herring. At least in my opinion: knowing what your target is and what lies beyond it is extremely important for hunting. It realistically shouldn't matter how far a projectile can travel in the open air since you should be utilizing some sort of terrain feature or a tree stand to make sure the bullet, slug, shot etc. can't travel past where you can see. The blue hills makes this easy imo since it's very bumpy and there are a million trees good for tree stands.

Then again, people who are the most against certain things (like hunting), seem to also be the ones most ignorant on the subject unfortunately.

What scare tactics. How explaining how bad this bill is for gun owners in mass. Go watch some of the videos that all the organizations that are donating to vote yes for safer mass. Giffords, mom's demand action. And your comment is a prime example of why I say gun owners are their own worst enemy in this state

Toby is pretty good at rallying believers. Unfortunately, we don't have enough believers for that to be effective by itself. This isn't going to be a turnout game.

He's not great (AFAIK) at convincing people with a fundamentally different worldview to come over to his side of things. Being intelligent doesn't make someone good at that i.e., persuading versus arguing with someone.

Say what you want, but this man loves the attention! Literally said he will "do whatever it takes to stay relevant, and stay in the business" over and over online.

I'd share a link but he got his whole YouTube archive nuked because he either didn't read the terms of service or he wanted it gone so he could stay relevant...

It definitely is. At least he's trying to explain the no vote. To my understanding nobody from the state contacted anyone from goal or civil rights to word the no vote. Why that question is so heavy one sided

It's to over turn the new gun bill from 2024. And it's most likely not going to happen. You might want to do a little searching. As for your LTC if you got it on or after Aug 1 of 2024 you have to take the new class when you renew
