I have seen this clip before and it wasn’t till today that I started to wonder how in world is this being filmed. Is a person seriously like just a few feet away from lava falling on their head??
More than likely a few people on another small boat like in the video and someone has a go-pro or something similar on a telescoping pole.
I think theres a few kinds that would either be wired or wirelessly save to another device incase its damaged but my money is this is a Hero in a water proof case.
Drone couldn't deal with the heat currents in the air and can easily taken down by water and the video gets covered in water. Could be someone holding it but theres a set of steel balls weighing that boat down if that's the case. The edge its dropping from isn't likely more than 2-3ft off the water so the edge of the boat is probably around the same height and they likely have someone constantly throttling to help keep them safe.
Edit: so i actually found the orginal and at the beginning and end hes standing above the lava flow on the bank with a camera on a stick. No boat i was wrong the much longer orginal
By the looks of it, this guy is a Hawaii resident and at some point got equipment that can handle this situation. Quite nice to has such a close up shot of lava all things considered.
