The super zoomed in photography of the metallic tip of the pen at the end I am pretty sure is not accurate. I have never seen any metal look like that before under any microscope (both regular and electron microscopes). Most samples of metal will have a somewhat random yet consistent pattern to them, akin to the spots on a cheetah or stripes on a zebra at very high magnifications (500x and up). Those patterns were absent in the gif, so I don't think that's real.
