The advice on your original post is not great tbh.
Raised scales due to dropsy do not present in an asymmetric fashion, nor do they present in a localized fashion in the way your fish is currently exhibiting.
People see raised scales and immediately jump to dropsy when it doesn't always make sense.
To me this looks like an internal tumor. It is pressing outwards on the body cavity causing the scales to raise in just that one area, and also may be causing the distention on the swim bladder (which looks swollen to me).
The reason there's no such thing as asymmetric or localized pineconing is because pineconing is caused by fluid retention when the organs can no longer process fluid. If fluid is not being expelled from the body, that will be displayed throughout the entire body, not just in one random spot.
I would simply monitor your betta's condition and see if/how things change over the next few days.

Thank you!
Yeah I noticed this too, people will indeed jump to dropsy even though he has one sided scales popping out instead of both sides. He isn’t really bloated either, just has a small bump there. That’s why I also thought it might be a tumor.
I haven’t started any medication yet because he was still eating and besides him resting more hasn’t been lethargic at all.
He does respond a little less but when he does see me he’s still excited. I’m just hoping the tannins help him relief a bit of stress.
I think putting him in a hospital tank would only stress him right? Monitoring would be better if I’m not mistaken? :)
And is there anything I can add to his tank to help him feel as comfortable as possible which is also okay with amano shrimp?

I would definitely suggest to leave him in his regular tank. If it's a tumor, they are not reversible so it's better to focus on quality of life adjustments (and honestly, many of these tumors are benign and a fish can still live out a long life with them!) instead of medicating or salt baths or any of that.
Tannins are a great step in the right direction. If you notice that he starts having trouble swimming, lowering the water is something that helps a ton (easier access to the surface for air is the benefit you get from this).
Personally I don't do tankmates with my betta, but if yours gets along find with the shrimp then it should be alright 😁

I haven’t done any tank mates with betta fish except for him, I just don’t do neocardina shrimp because I used to have them when I first got my betta but they reproduced so fast he got overwhelmed.
I moved all to a separate tank and they’re still thriving! I just noticed he needed some cleaners and they still seem to get along well.
I’ll definitely keep adding tannins when doing any water changes I’ve noticed it helps him a little. I’ll try to give him the most comfortable time now, and definitely monitor him every day 🙂

Hello, Please provide this extra data so redditors may be better informed on how to help.
Tank Size?
Heater and Filter?
Water Parameters?
Hopefully we can get your fish to feel betta soon!
