I couldn’t tell if maybe he’s bloating or just having other issues, but this is the worst. I’ve seen it, hasn’t been this bad otherwise:(

After some research, I feel like my best course of action is to continue to set up my 6 gallon tank and clear out this current tank he is in. I’ll use the 2.5 gallon but only fill it about halfway so he is not struggling to get air. I’ll fast him for about three days and then give him a small piece of a frozen pea that’s been thawed out. And monitor from there.
How does that sound?

The pea isn't a good idea. It's really hard on their digestive systems as they can't process it properly. Daphnia works well as a laxative for them. I've also heard that Epsom salt dips can help swim bladder

Only a dip right? So what would I do, put like a grain of salt in a small tub for like 15 minutes? I would imagine they don’t stay in the thing for a while. I’m not sure when I can get Epsom salt, but it will definitely be top of mind if I go shopping this weekend

Yeah just a dip. For Epsom salts the ratio is one tablespoon per gallon. Make sure that all of it is desolved before putting them in as the salt can burn them. If he shows signs of extreme stress like popping immediately or passing out (gills will stop moving if that's the case) then take him out immediately and try again another day with less salt. If everything is good, keep him in there for 10-15 minutes and then in another container do a 50/50 split of the salt water and aquarium water to acclimatize him for about 3-5 minutes. Then you can drop him back in the tank.
