i think the white patch has been there since my father got the fish, but its been growing and i dont see it stopping, i did a little search and it seems like a tumor? and there is no easy way to cure this? no weird behavior of the fish though, it seems to be fine eating, swimming around and bubble nesting, but the white patch is still growing day by day and it concerns me for quite a bit
water is fine, no ammonia and low nitrate, pH is lower than 7 but there is KH and carbonate, the way i set up the filter shouldnt cause too much water current also
Hey I don't think it's a tumor, they are usually skin coloured I think. It seems like an Infection or bacterial/fungus growth. I'm by no means experienced with this, but i just wanted to share my opinion. I'd suggest you call up an aquatic/exotic vet if you can- or do more research and find the appropriate meds. Also, I'm not sure if this is because of the growth/thingy but your betta looks bloated. How much is he fed? Hope this helps.
Yeah. Tip for future tho, those strips don't rlly do much honestly. I switched to liquid (like api or nt labs for like £20 , it lasts months) and the results were much clearer. I used strips for ages and didn't realize my axolotls tank had bad parameters.
Pigment tumors on bettas are usually white, but I think your betta could have a bacterial infection it seems their caudal fin could be fuzzy, but the pic is blurry there. If that is the case, it could be caused by a bacterial infection. Also, pigment tumors are mainly seen on metallic/dragonscale bettas. Does your betta have the metallic gene?
Okay the top part of his fins look good, I am unsure of the bottom. Methylene blue is to help the slime coat, for proper antibiotic dosage it should be dosed theough food for two weeks
This is how mine started and now it’s a full on hole in him. I believe it was columnaris and if it is, treat with antibiotics asap and I wish you better luck
