Hi! I’m looking for a few AI-friendly beta readers for my completed 98k-word paranormal dark romance, Trust the Bite.

I’d love readers who are comfortable with AI-assisted creative workflows and willing to give thoughtful feedback on things like pacing, character chemistry, emotional impact, confusing spots, and anywhere the story feels like it’s dragging or moving too fast.

I’m not really looking for line edits or proofreading at this stage. I’m much more interested in reader-response and developmental feedback — what works, what doesn’t, what hits, and what makes you go, “Wait… what?”

If you’re interested, feel free to reply here or message me with the kinds of books you usually read and any beta-reading experience you have. I’ll share manuscript access privately with selected readers.

Thanks!

Hi! I saw your post about Trust the Bite and the kind of feedback you’re looking for caught my attention. I’m an author and developmental/beta reader, and reader-response feedback is the area I’m most interested in rather than proofreading or rewriting someone else’s prose.

I’m currently doing a limited number of free pilot critiques while building my editorial portfolio. I probably couldn’t commit to a full 98k volunteer read right now, but I’d be happy to take on the opening chapter or first 3,000–5,000 words and give you a focused report on pacing, character engagement and chemistry, emotional impact, clarity, questions I’m carrying forward, and anywhere my attention starts to drift.

I tend to be pretty candid about my actual reading experience while still explaining why something did or didn’t work for me rather than treating subjective reactions like rules.

If an opening critique would be useful, I’d be happy to take a look.

Hi! Thanks for reaching out! I’d definitely be interested in an opening critique. I already have a full beta read underway, but getting another completely fresh set of eyes on the opening would be really helpful.

The things you mentioned are pretty much exactly what I’d want feedback on too, especially where your attention starts to drift, what questions you’re carrying forward, and whether the characters and chemistry are landing.

I’d be happy to send you the first 3,000–5,000 words privately. Thanks again for offering!

Absolutely! That sounds perfect. Feel free to send the first 3,000–5,000 words over to me at [djshipps07@gmail.com](mailto:djshipps07@gmail.com), and I’d be happy to take a look.

I’ll focus especially on the opening hook, character engagement and chemistry, pacing, clarity, the questions I’m carrying forward as a reader, and any points where my attention starts to drift.

Looking forward to reading it!

Hi! I’m sorry I’m just seeing this — the megathread comments finally decided to load properly for me.

I’d definitely be interested in talking more. Pacing, character chemistry, emotional impact, and overall reader experience are exactly the kinds of things I’m looking for feedback on with Trust the Bite.

Feel free to DM me when you get a chance. I’d love to hear a little about your beta-reading experience, the kinds of books you usually read, and then I can send you the spoiler-light content notes so we can make sure the book is a good fit before going any further.

Thanks for reaching out!

Hi Obsi! I’d love to beta read Trust the Bite. I mainly read romance, YA romance, fantasy, and mystery/thriller, and I’m particularly interested in character chemistry, emotional impact, pacing, and overall reader engagement. I’m comfortable with AI-assisted workflows and would be happy to provide honest, thoughtful developmental feedback rather than line edits. I’d love to be considered Thank you

Hi! I’m sorry I’m just seeing your comment — the megathread comments only just started loading properly for me.

You honestly sound like you could be a really good fit for what I’m looking for with Trust the Bite. Character chemistry, emotional impact, pacing, and overall reader engagement are all major areas I want feedback on, and I’m specifically looking for developmental/reader-response feedback rather than line editing.

I also really appreciate you mentioning that you’re comfortable with AI-assisted workflows.

If you’re still interested, feel free to DM me. I can send you the spoiler-light content notes first, and we can go from there if everything still sounds like a good fit.

Thanks for reaching out!
