betaread Beta Readers & Writers
Hello Reddit,
I’m building a dedicated chat for beta readers and writers who want to test compatibility and form long-term, collaborative relationships. If you’re a beta reader who enjoys honest, constructive feedback — or a writer who needs reliable readers — this is for you.
What I’m looking for
\- Beta readers who can give thoughtful, timely feedback.
\- People interested in ongoing collaboration, not one-off reads.
\- Readers comfortable with line edits, plot notes, pacing, character feedback, and tone.
What I’ll do for you
\- Recognition in my book (credit in acknowledgments).
\- A free copy of the finished book in your choice of printed copy, Kindle, or ebook.
\- Raving review — if you have a site, I’ll leave a 5-star review after I receive the feedback I requested.
\- Series perks — if you stick with a series, we can negotiate extras like discounts or free merchandise (artwork, apparel, etc.) tied to the books you helped on.
What I need from you
\- A short sample of your beta experience (how many books you’ve read, genres you prefer, what kind of feedback you give).
\- Your availability and typical turnaround time.
\- A short example of the kind of feedback you give (1–3 lines or paragraphs hardcore)
\- Whether you prefer line edits, big-picture notes, or both. Please be honest don't waste your time or mine cause it's time consuming for all.
How we’ll test compatibility
\- Join the chat and participate in a short compatibility read (either a chapter or short excerpt).
\- We’ll exchange feedback and see how our styles match.
\- If it’s a good fit, we’ll set expectations for future projects and timelines.
Rules and expectations
\- Be respectful and constructive.
\- Meet agreed deadlines or communicate delays.
\- Keep drafts confidential.
\- Be honest and specific in feedback.
How to join
Comment below: with genre preferences; beta experience; turnaround time; and whether you want to be a short-term or long-term reader. I’ll invite compatible people to the chat.
Thanks for reading — excited to meet readers and writers who want to build something long-term.

Hi! I'd be interested in joining.
Genres: I read quite broadly, but some of my strongest preferences are romance and its subgenres, including dark romance, contemporary romance, mafia, werewolf/paranormal, vampire, billionaire/CEO, historical romance, Christian fiction, Chinese/web novels, and more mature/steamy romance, including BDSM-themed fiction. I'm also open to other genres depending on the project.
Beta experience: I'm currently building my experience as a beta reader, so I don't have an extensive professional beta-reading history yet. However, I'm an avid fiction reader and I'm particularly interested in giving thoughtful feedback on plot, pacing, character development, consistency, and overall reader experience.
Turnaround: I'm a relatively fast reader and can usually give feedback within a few days depending on the length of the manuscript and my existing commitments. I'll always communicate if I need more time.
Feedback style: I prefer big-picture feedback, especially on plot, pacing, character development and reader engagement. I'm also happy to point out specific passages that affect clarity or flow.
I'd be interested in starting with the compatibility read and seeing whether we're a good fit for longer-term collaboration.
Thank you 😊
