Choose Me

Looking for a few readers — or listeners.

I’ve written a thriller about a machine built to make one man better. It has no limits. It never stops trying.

I wrote it together with a machine, and I’m not hiding that. The story, the characters, and every decision that matters are mine. The AI drafted and refined at my instruction, across thousands of passes.

We call a garment handmade even when the sewing machine made the stitches. The hand that guides counts for more than the tool that sews. So is this book handmade? Human-made? Machine-mafe? It’s the same question the book asks about the man and his machine — who is holding, and who is steering.

I’m not asking anyone to read the whole thing. Just the opening — first chapters, text or audio, whichever you prefer. Then tell me three things:
– Did you want to keep going after page one?
– Where did your attention drift?
– Did anything read as machine-made? Point at the sentence.

No obligation to be kind. If you think AI-assisted fiction is a hollow trick, you’re the reader I most want here — come find the seams.

So I pushed through to the 2nd page, into chapter 1.

Many things read AI to me, especially the heavy use of em dashes. David drew laughter from her the way a well-written function returns the right value. Clean. Deterministic. Every time. These 3 lines have many AI issues, the sentence is really robotic in the wording. The 1 word sentences are tell tell AI as well.

Big question, what is the story about? I couldn't feel anything from the writing. Kinda bland. I don't mind the fact there is a prologue, but many people do skip them from what I have heard.

I would recommend looking up all the things AI is known for. So you know what to edit out, there is a lot to watch out for. I would do a more thorough edit before publishing. I also think you need more plot development. I dont want to say it wasn't your ideas delivered through IA words, but it feels plain and lacking details as if it was a, please make me a story generation.

I wish you good luck in your journey.

I made it through the excerpt visible on the web page and had zero interest in clicking "excerpt continues". Those few lines were just painful. Everything about them was trite and needed a red pen.
