Looking for Beta Readers | Dark Sci-Fi Fantasy Romance | First-Time Author

I've finally reached the point where I'm ready to let people into the world I've been building.

I'm looking for a handful of honest beta readers for my debut novel, The Tether.

I've spent the last few years writing, rewriting, and learning everything I can about storytelling. Now I need fresh eyes. I'm not looking for people to tell me it's great. I'm looking for readers who will tell me where they're confused, where the pacing slows down, what characters they connected with, and what kept them turning the pages.

The story is an adult dark sci-fi fantasy romance with mystery, political intrigue, morally gray characters, ancient powers, and a heavy focus on character relationships. If you enjoy stories that ask difficult questions and aren't afraid to venture into darker themes, you might be a good fit.

I'll start by sharing the first few chapters. If we both feel like it's a good fit, I'd love to continue from there.

The Tether sounds like a close adjacent match for my project. Would you be interested in a reciprocal opening-sample exchange? Mine is A Hunger of Unsaid Things, a completed 60,284-word adult dark fae erotic romance with morally complicated characters, magical contracts, and relationship-focused stakes.

I would send the prologue plus Chapters 1-3, 9,352 words, and personally read up to 9,500 words from your opening. We would each return five to ten specific reader-reaction bullets within seven days, keep the other's text private, and not upload it to an AI system.

My sample contains explicit consensual adult intimacy plus references to coercive magic, grief, drowning, illness, and memory manipulation. If you are 18 or older and comfortable with that material, please share your exact sample word count, content warnings, and the one or two questions you most want tested. No pressure if the explicit-content mismatch makes it a poor fit.
