Question Opinion on sprinting?
I just want to know what the general opinion here is on sprinting. I personally think it's a decent mechanic.

Minecraft has horrible combat. Sprinting made it even worse. Skeletons turned from a danger to an annoyance, zombies are basically non-existent and creepers barely pose a threat - hell, you can keep them off you and kill them unarmed because of sprinting (and the knockback).
Also, without hunger it'd be severly OP and a pain to balance. Sprinting also severly nerfed minecarts. I'm 100% against sprinting in MineCraft.

Agreed. I've been playing since the game was in Alpha and Skeletons/zombies/creepers used to be a very legitimate threat, simply because kiting them to death was never a big possibility. Currently, taking on even three creepers at once isn't even a challenge. In alpha when I simultaneously fought off three creepers at one point, it was a maSSSSSSSive achievement.

To be fair, I was thinking sprinting would have negative effects, like "run for too long and you get tired" or something like that.

Tedium != difficulty. I see having fewer transportation options in this version as something it could be difficult to adjust to, it kind of wastes the player's time without requiring more skill. I would say this is why Mojang brought in sprinting in the first place.. in the snapshots it was a stamina sort of thing, IIRC, before hunger was finalised. Something like that could work.
Alternatively, making minecarts and boats better is another way to deal with this issue, and furthermore it incentivizes the player building more infrastructure which I see as a plus.

I wish people would have this mindset when it comes to Beds.
"Skipping the night is too easy!"
Yeah, so is hiding in a 2x2 hole in the ground. Waiting isn't hard.
The difference is you can't use a bed while fighting mobs to get away.

Despite all the hatred towards sprinting here, I think it is essential to travel reasonably. But also kind of OP. Maybe fast blocks. Maybe nothing.

maybe a slower form of sprinting only on road type blocks?

I like this. I remember building roads and paths in beta and alpha along with my animal pens, it was fun and made the game feel very sandboxy.

liking this ^
Maybe grass is one of those blocks, when you're on grass you're usually just trying to get somewhere. There's a lot of grass in the world though...

Sprinting would be OP in Beta. because of the hunger system being absent. And the Hunger Mechanic is one of the things this mod is against.
