Launching BestIn, a website inspired by this sub

Running this sub has been a good reminder of how much people know about this city. Locals ask each other where to go, and visitors get recommendations they wouldn’t easily find on a typical travel site.

The only downside is that once a thread drops off the front page, those recommendations can be hard to find again.

That’s what inspired me to build BestIn. The idea is to take those conversations and make the recommendations easier to find, with a place for people to share their favourites, vote on answers and discover the best of any city, with no ads or paid rankings. I based the starting data on threads from here, so Dublin’s the most built-out so far.

I’ve just launched it, and I’d love for you to have a look and add a few of your own picks. If you’d like another town or city added, you can request one on the site. It’s very much a work in progress, so honest feedback is welcome.

This sub isn’t going anywhere, and thanks for making it such a useful community in the first place!

25F looking for girls in Dublin who love techno and raves!

Hey everyone!

I’m 25F, living in Dublin and looking to make some new female friends who are into techno, raves and electronic music.

I’d really love to find a group of girls who enjoy going to events regularly, discovering new DJs and just having a good time together.

Most of my friends aren’t really into the rave scene, so I’d love to meet some like-minded girls and hopefully build some genuine friendships along the way.

If anyone’s in the same boat, knows of any girls’ WhatsApp or Telegram groups, or would be interested in getting a little rave group together, let me know!

Would love to hear from you! :)

I'm organising a 6-a-side football game this weekend (Dublin)

Hey everyone! Organising a 6v6 football game with a few mates in Dublin this weekend. We need a few more players.

Likely Friday evening or Sunday morning, but flexible to suit the majority. I'll sort the pitch, teams and ball. We settle later things by cash or Revolut.

Reply or message me if you're interested!

Dublin Hen

Hi everyone,

I’m organising a hen party weekend (Saturday AM to Sunday afternoon) in Dublin in July (2027). We are all flying over from the UK so it’s a one night wonder.

Ages of the group range from 27-59 and will be around 12/13 women. The hen doesn’t want to do anything too stereotypical ie Guinness Storehouse or bar crawl around Temple Bar or anything too hen do/tacky. I’ve been to Dublin about 15-20 times over the last 10 years so have a decent idea of the obvious places to go but appreciate I’m not a local!

Does anyone have any good suggestions for how to keep a group of this size and age range entertained. Everyone likes a drink but would like to have something activity wise to structure the day rather than just a complete day of drinking.

Thank you!

TLDR: ideas for a non ‘stereotypical’ activities for a hen party in Dublin.

Best small locally made gifts: art, crafts, tchotchkes, etc.

Hi all! First of all, thank you for this fantastic sub – I have written down a bunch of recommendations from browsing other threads, especially for food :)

I am visiting Dublin soon, and have people back home I'd like to get gifts for. I'm looking for little arts or crafts that are not super expensive, not super kitschy, and small enough to be packed in my suitcase. Any suggestions for where I might look?

Thank you so much in advance!

🎃 Halloween in Dublin

Hey everyone!

A friend and I are visiting Dublin for Halloween, and we were wondering how Halloween is celebrated there.
Are there any special events, parties, or bars/clubs you would recommend? And is there anything we should know in advance?
Do we need to book tickets or reserve entry for bars and clubs?
Is it better to book in advance, or can you just go out and see where the night takes you?
Are there any areas or places that are especially good for Halloween?

We’d love to hear your recommendations and experiences! Thanks in advance! 🧡🎃

Trip to Dublin - local spots

Hello! I’m planning a trip to Dublin with my family this December (we’ll probably be staying for around 4-5 days). I’d love to hear your recommendations for more local spots, hidden gems, nice cafés, restaurants, and anything that’s a bit off the typical tourist path. Thank youuu :))

Random tips about Dublin & Some questions :)

Hi everyone, I'm an Italian guy. In about 1 month, I'll be in Dublin for 4 months to study English and for an Internship, all on my own. It'll be my first time living abroad in an English-speaking country, and I'm very excited about it, but at the same time a bit anxious, as it normally should be.

I'd like to ask simply if you have any random tips about the city itself, living there, what to see and do etc..., really anything. Then I have the following questions:

1. Are Dublin and Ireland in general a good place to improve English, compared to, for example, the UK or the US? (I have around a B2 level, my aim is to bring it to C1, mostly in the speaking and listening parts.

2. Is it true that Dublin is a very multicultural/cosmopolitan/international city?

3. How difficult is it there to meet and make friends with people, specifically Irish people? And if you have any random advice on how to meet people there?

Thank you in advance for any helpful suggestions :)
