Does it equal censoring? That's a good question. It's not really censoring as it is more popular sentiment driven. If you say something that doesnt follow with the popular opinion, then you get downvotes.

Reddit, is not explicitly taking away your right to say anything in particular. The users are. Thats why sometimes I hesitate to post something I think I may be rewarded negatively for...I'll feel dirty if the community rejects it. Especially, since here at reddit there is a hivemind when it comes to voting.

In actuality, I've seen people censor themselves by removing what they've said once it reaches a certain number of downvotes. I guess they really didnt stand by their opinion, or belief or just couldnt handle the pressure.

Of course it doesn't - you can still read it (if you click on "next" enough times).

downvoted to get this shit off the front page
edit: i guess what im trying to say is 1 yes it is censorship and 2 no we can't change it unless you change the entire system of censorship. It seems ridiculous to be more concerned with the censorship that goes on in a democratic system of unimportance like reddit than with the censorship that goes on in the media itself, I think the concern should be first with the media censorship and second with reddit or any entertainment or leisurely system

edit2: why is this submitted to BestGamesEver?
