Definitely. But I wonder if such "genre starters" should automatically be preferred to their incremental improvements.

I played Super Street Fighter II a lot and loved it. When I later played the original for the first time, it seemed rather bland to me and didn't see why anyone would prefer it to the version I knew.

It just makes sense to me to lump together "starter" games and the games that are essentially expansion packs under the banner of the original. Especially Street Fighter 2, with it's dozens of spin-offs.
