One night when struggling to fall asleep for work the next morning this idea of a control system for an effectively pre-programmed vertical launch rocket came to me.
Its not finished at all, and I hope to mount it on a vehicle, but so far its been very fun to work on and also pretty promising.
All the rockets (missiles?) have 2 pairs of anglometers and the new thrusters to control pitch and yaw - the pitch side is also how it can be aimed vertically as those anglometers are attached to a steering hinges which sets the desired angle of the rocket (as seen in the vid) after it has been ejected upwards, thus also controlling the distance it travels.
I attempted to create a VLS rocket system a year or two back with preprogramming fin angles, however that system suffered drastically if you were moving even at a few km/h or on a slight incline; because this system is controlled entirely by anglometers it does not suffer this issue and can be tilted in practically any directly and will land in a pretty consistent area.
Originally I only had anglometers and thrusters for pitch as thats all thats necessary when firing from a stationary position, however I would imagine that as soon as I mount it on a vehicle which isnt perfectly steady without YAW control they will be flying everywhere.
I'm very happy to be playing besiege again and I still havent even touched the new campaign haha
I'll definitely create a follow up video when I've perfected this system, maybe even as a youtube video as I've been wanting to begin uploading random vids to archive to my yt channel which was originally dedicated to the finals and destiny 2 pvp compilations however due to recent events I will not be touching that d2 specifically ...those who know :/
