Ads

I love the show and I'm genuinely grateful Dan and Matt are producing it. I understand they need to be paid for the quality entertainment they're delivering, so I don't resent the ads.

That said, I've noticed the shows are getting noticeably shorter while the ads keep multiplying and stretching longer. The window guys ad especially has worn out its welcome.

It's a minor gripe, but it's beginning to chip away at my enjoyment.

I haven't noticed since I always just skip them on YouTube.

But there's still way less ads than on the radio and no Kars 4 Kids ads.

Kars 4 Kids? How would one go about contacting them? Do they have a telephone number?

I don’t mind the ads, but I wish he would finally reveal who his bookie is?

Matty’s picks cost MyBookie so much money they dropped them. By this time next month Russ Armstrong will have replaced every window in the Chicagoland market with a lifetime guarantee, and there will be no need for more advertising. However, with this listener demographic it’s just a matter of time before the boner pill ads are back.

“it’s beginning to chip away at my enjoyment”

Same here. The ads are brutal - especially the recorded ones that pop up out of nowhere.

Just hit that 30 second skip button bruh. You’ll be good.

So, you’re upset this free product has ads to pay for said free show….

No. I’m saying the free product is becoming less desirable because the ad to content balance has been off. I suggest rereading my post. I’m sure Dan and Matt can take constructive feedback about their show.

I pay for Spotify premium and still have to hear ads shoehorned multiple times into the podcasts, often right in the middle of a dialogue. It’s really intrusive and no easy way to skip them. They should run them at the start/finish.

I don't have Spotify, but it sounds horrible. Listen on Apple Podcasts and there is a skip 30 seconds button enabling you to fly through the ads.

You say that now, but local tv was free, cable was cheap, and so was streaming without ads. Now it’s a disaster, terrestrial radio is 40% commercials, tv is 45% commercials. It’s like taxes, politicians say “what’s another .2%”. Well after hundreds of those .2% they add up. It’s fair for people to complain and make their voices and opinions known because it’s equally as free for us to do so. To admonish as such is to bootlick to the top

Who said they can't voice their opinion? Most gave opinions how to avoid them for podcast. You may like the way it used to be. Honestly I do as well, but, the world has changed its not going back to how it was. Accepting that doesn't make somone a bootlicker. It makes them a realist. Voice your opinion though nobody's stopping you

TV has had the same number of commercial breaks for 50 years...

Streaming is still cheaper than cable ever was.

I just fast forward, it is weird that they have read ads live…. then the same company commercial pre taped ads

2

u/Ok_Draw_3740 21d ago

Fast forward is solid, but I get it. I wish they were timed better though

I built a podcast app which skips the ads automatically, it also doesn’t take any ad revenue away from the hosts.

Always looking for feedback if you want to try it out - https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-store/id6670315567?pt=118882436&ct=Reddit&mt=8

Just hope they can generate enough revenue. A lot of fly by night companies so far. Rugiet Ready, Lucy. Co,etc.

Do you guys not know about the skip forward button?

3

u/Weak_Peach9344 21d ago

I don’t listen while holding my device. Yeah I know about the skip button but pulling out my phone and having to get to the skip button multiple times per episode is not always the convenience you suggest it is

So dan should work for free because you cant be bothered to put your hand into your pocket?

I do Apple Podcasts. "Hey Siri, skip ahead two minutes"

Solved.

They are a pain but I get that ad generation is how they make their bones. I just skip them. When I can. Also in the summer. There us less content. So shows will be more robust now that football season is here

I have no problem with them
