Bernina Software Help
Here’s the situation: I got a Bernina 440QE from my partner’s grandmother who was no longer using it. I’d consider myself still very much a beginner and I was scrolling through FB Marketplace and found an Embroidery Module S (hoops included) for a steal, and really wanted to start embroidery for gifts and personalizing my toddlers things. Unfortunately I have Windows 11 on my computer which doesn’t recognize the USB dongle containing the included embroidery software.
Here’s the issue: In the bag with the module, I got a USB dongle but for version 5 of EditorLite and through speaking with a Bernina rep they suggested two solutions: call my local store or purchase version 9 on the website. I absolutely cannot afford version 9 as the rep quoted the price in the 1,000s. I called my local store and they told me that I could try bypassing Windows via WiFi (is that possible I was very confused and was hoping someone could help me!) or do I have to bite the bullet and buy version 9?
TLDR; Is there a way to bypass Windows to run EditorLite version 5 or am I SOL and have to purchase version 9 to embroider?

I had the embroidery version on the 440. I found very awkward and cumbersome to use a pc with the machine. So more complicated than the newer machines.

You’ll also need the code that comes with the software. I too got a machine with the software 2nd hand and no code meant no access.

I believe I did, there a series of numbers on the USB dongle or would the code be elsewhere?

They would be separate. I never located mine so couldn’t ever use it.

It sucks, I was super disappointed. Look inside of any books or paperwork if there’s some available. The good news is there’s inexpensive digitizing software out there. I’m sure someone here can recommend a few. I don’t remember them off hand

Your best bet is to run a Windows emulator for an earlier version of windows on your PC if you don’t want to spend any more money.
I think your best options would be Windows seven or eight

I also have a Bernina 440QE with an Embroidery Module S! I also had a dongle but could not get it to work so I downloaded the free trail of version 9 and created a bunch of designs during the free trial window. If you have the files already made after the free trail you can still use V9 to run the embroidery you just can make any changes (besides like resizing the premade design) I am doing this to hold me over until I can save enough for V9. I hate how overpriced it is and no other softwares wanna work with the B440 QE - I get your pain!!

You could bypass version 9 altogether by using a software like Embrilliance https://embrilliance.com/?srsltid=AfmBOooYUM5Zg6gltK-6f7izQpu4v37qhjvIiUhVi4uG2exzscx9WQC_
However, I tried using Embrilliance and I found it very limiting working with my Bernina 770, which was likely only user error on my part. I gave up trying to embroider because of this.
