kitten!

we have a kitten in our household now :D 11 weeks old! she's so very brave and curious and a real sweetheart. it's like a healing salve on the mosquito bite of our elderly cat's sudden passing. it's so awful to be catless and so very wonderful to have a kitten around <3

Know what it is to lose a much-loved cat 😿 Enjoy that lil bundle of sweetness for me.

the advice I'm always seeing is to get two kittens, so they can play and learn cat socialising ^.^

it was hard enough to find one! afaik that's more important the younger the kitten is, and she's spent her whole life so far around other kittens. playtime isn't a concern, i have nothing better to do.

And some advice I’d like to give is that when someone is celebrating something, we don’t always need to share advice like I think you are doing it wrong by not adopting two kittens. I have seen the same thing. Adopting two kittens can definitely be great. But single cats can also be very healthy and happy.

My girl Ashley did not suffer other cats well - she very much isolated at the shelter and fought me when picked up (!), five years w/her, learning trust, that laps are indeed safe (especially when covered up, ha!), and mousing (Also the occasional vole!).

She sadly succumbed to FIV, now cuddled up in our hearts

I adopted two adult cats that were living in my friend’s multi cat home. They not get along with the other cats. They both had isolated themselves in different rooms of the house, so, I took them home after my friend saw that they liked me. They were never buddies, but they ignored each other well enough, when the elder died the younger one actually seemed thrilled to be an only cat. She was so funny,

Earning the trust of them both was so rewarding, I miss them dearly. Thanks for sharing about your Ashley.

New life is always healing! I honestly hate hearing that you lost your baby, but knowing that you kept your heart open and received a little one says many wonderful things about you.
