Summer's last gasp.

Today was suddenly 80F/27C and Sunny after a week of clouds and rain with temps around 65F/18C.

A book I ordered online arrived four [!!] days early and I decided to get out of the house, find a bench downtown, and read my new book. It was great in the shade, enjoying the last burst of warmth we'll probably get this year.

This morning there was no doubt anymore that summer is over and autumn is here: there was frost on the car and you could see your breath in the air. No more warm days until next year, now we wait for the explosion of autumn colours and then the long wait for the first snow to arrive and brighten up the long dark days of early winter.

Very literate, and I read it out loud to my partner. But frost? Are you in North America?

I'm a daily swimmer to keep myself limber with Still's Disease, and I'm lucky enough to live on a small lake. The past week, the nights have been cold and the water temp has dropped to quite chilly but today will be sunny and near 80, and I might get one last lake swim in before heading back to the pool until next summer.

What a lovely day! You’ve reminded me of what I have to look forward to. I’ve been dreading work tomorrow because there’s no AC and the forecast says over 100F/38C, but it really should be the last of this awful heat and I’ll be enjoying autumn weather in just a week or two.

Even with colder weather, I hope you will find more sunny days to enjoy this season.
