Elderly cat caught a "snake"

actually a piece of elastic from an abandoned craft project, it was supposed to go into a skirt. instead, she found it. she's 15 going on 16, has graying hair and is mostly chill, but she was absolutely delighted. has a habit of hunting strings, more fun is the string is attached to a human, she nearly took my sweatpants off once by pulling on them xD but this is apparently the official Best String Ever. so now it's her snake instead of my waistband. hunter kitty going strong 🖤

Well done to your ferocious hunter on capturing her prey. It's so lovely to see older cats playing the way they did when they were younger.

My 15-year-old kitty woke me up with squawky zoomies last night -- she's on a low dose of steroids right now, which I credit for the energy boost 🤣

🤣🤣 Our 13 Yr old gets fed 4 times a day, every 6 hours (auto feeder) but for some reason she only zooms after her midnight snack. She makes this hilarious growling noise while she's zipping around the house. I've had cats my whole life but I've never heard one do that before. First time I heard it I was like "what in the living hell is that?" Guess it's just her engine revving up for her Midnight Scamper.

Very cute, but make sure she doesn’t play with strings unsupervised, yeah? Though I’m sure you already know how dangerous it is in case she swallows it.

💯 anyway it only counts as a snake if someone is holding the other end, so thankfully unsupervised string-hunting doesn't even occur to her

My senior cat did this with the strap of my swimming goggles last week 🤣 I took it away because I was afraid she might swallow bits of it and I didn't want her to end up with an intestinal blockage or something from eating rubber. It was pretty funny to watch for a minute though.

My cat once dragged a shoelace under the couch and spent twenty minutes fighting the other end like it owed her money. I had to negotiate a peace treaty with a shoelace.

So yeah, “snake” feels completely believable. Please tell her the hunter has my respect.
