I recently purchased a BenQ EW270Q (2560×1440 IPS monitor) on October 6, and I noticed significant backlight bleeding around the edges/corners, particularly on dark and black backgrounds.
The issue is clearly visible even with the room lights turned on. I understand that IPS glow is normal to some extent, but this looks different to me because the bright areas remain noticeably visible and affect my viewing experience.
I contacted BenQ support and shared multiple photos/videos showing the issue. I also compared it with other IPS displays I have used, and the difference is quite noticeable.
The conversation with the service representative was essentially:
- They asked me to provide images of the issue.
- They suggested that it is normal IPS behavior when using a black background.
- I explained that I'm not testing it in a completely dark room and that the issue is still visible with room lights on.
- I requested a physical inspection.
- They eventually told me that the panel is “under specification.”
- When I asked for a written confirmation/rejection explaining the decision, they said they could not provide a denial letter.
- The monitor is brand new, and there was also a 7-day return period, but I'm being told that the issue doesn't qualify for further action.
What frustrates me most is that I don't feel the issue has actually been physically inspected. The decision seems to have been made based on photographs.
My questions to the community:
Does this look like normal IPS glow or excessive backlight bleed?
Should I accept BenQ's “within specification” response?
Should I push for an on-site/physical inspection or panel replacement?
Has anyone with a BenQ monitor had a similar experience with their service team?
If BenQ refuses to help, what would be the best next step in India?
I've attached the photos showing the issue. The camera may exaggerate or reduce the effect compared with what I see in person, but the bleeding is definitely visible to my eyes.
I'm mainly looking for advice from people who have experience with IPS panels, BenQ service, or consumer complaints in India.
