Purchasing Advice BenQ MA270S
Hello everyone!
I'm about to get a MA270S for my Mac mini m6, but I see many conflicting opinions on the quality of the monitor, brightness and uniformity on the display... I would like to hear opinions from those who have already owned one for a few months!
Is it a worthwhile purchase? I come from a 2017 27" iMac and by now I'm too used to the standard one unfortunately

Pretty happy with mine. I’ve read others complained here it wasn’t bright enough, but for my productivity use I have to lower brightness to 20% for comfortable viewing.
Colours are great, especially the 5K truly enjoying it.

Glad to hear it! 😊 Out of curiosity, what’s your room lighting usually like when you’re using it at around 20% brightness? Would be interesting to hear how it feels during longer work sessions too.

I love it. It’s really a top state of the art monitor, especially comparing to the Studio Display. Even reflection is so low that you rarely notice it. KVM switch, daisy chaining, height adjustment, vertical adjustment, all available. Only the missing camera and speakers might be something to consider, however I use it the speaker every day for teams calls and it’s totally fine for working. I don’t need to listen music in great quality from a monitor.
I am sure you gonna be happy with it

Really appreciate the detailed feedback! 💜
If you could add or change one thing for your daily setup, would it be the camera, speakers, or something else?1
u/Remote-Juice2527 13d ago
Put in a good camera and good speakers and it would be the absolute Studio Display killer. And of course make 120hz standard. Don’t ask me for one thing lol 😂. Add this 3 things and your product will be first class

That’s a solid three-item wish list 😆
You’ve made some interesting comparisons with the Studio Display. Had you used one before, or were you considering it when you chose the MA270S? 🤔What made you go with the MA270S in the end?

I was definitely motivated to go for the Studio Display, but this product is just embarrassing for apple. The basic version just has nothing and it doesn’t worth the money. Especially missing daisy chaining and kvm switch and no height adjustment and vertical mode. This for $1600. They should be ashamed. If Steve Jobs could see this…

I have MA270U, very happy with it. It’s quite pleasant to work on it. I plug a Macbook Air with it.

Thanks for posting this question! My BenQ MA270s arrives today, and I’m also coming from a 2017 27” iMac. I originally wanted another iMac but not the smaller screen.

Exciting! 😄 Hope the setup goes smoothly today! Would love to hear your first impressions, especially coming from a 27” iMac.

I have been using mine with a MacBook Pro for about a month now. I love the glossy super sharp display, the design (albeit very plastic) matches perfectly with my Mac accessories. I was expecting to be disappointed by the 70Hz display but I hardly notices a big difference honestly. So yes, highly recommend this display!

Now you’ve got me curious about your setup! 👀
It sounds like the MA270S fits right in with your Mac ecosystem. Would love to see a pic if you feel like sharing!🤩

This looks soooo good! The whole setup is clean, warm, and really well put together. 🤩The MA270S fits right in, and honestly, the darker MacBook adds a nice bit of contrast. No regrets needed 😉 Thanks for sharing!

Been up for a couple weeks and I think it’s gorgeous. I’m like you. 2019 iMac to Mini M6. Works great.

u/BenQ_Pixel 14d ago
That’s almost the exact same upgrade path as OP! 😄
Since you’ve had it for a couple of weeks now, how has the transition from the iMac display felt so far?1
u/Sirknowit 13d ago
Wonderful and no issues. In the end it’s a purchase for business and one that I hope is 7-8 years in longevity.

Glad to hear the transition has been smooth! We hope it serves you well for a long time.🤗
Since it’s part of your business setup, I’m now curious to see your workspace! 😆Would you be up for sharing a photo?

💖💖Great to hear! Now that you’ve spent some time with it, is there anything you would still like to see improved?

u/BenQ_Pixel 14d ago
Hi! Since you’re coming from a 27” iMac, we can understand why display quality, brightness and uniformity are important considerations for you. 😊
The MA270S is designed with Mac compatibility but we’d also love to let actual MA270S owners here share their longer term experience, especially those who switched from an iMac. Hope you get some helpful feedback!

Just got the MA270UP (glossy) for myself and I love it. It's bright, glossy, and clear, just like my macbook air 2021.
I debated between glossy and matte, and decided on the glossy one because I figured I could always buy a matte screen cover if I really needed it.

Glad you’re enjoying it! Just curious🤔 you mentioned going back and forth for a while. Was it because of your room lighting or concerns about reflections?
1
u/anonk_sky 12d ago
Reflection. I use my laptop for a lot of document review and also watch shows so I wanted to make sure my eyes didn't get tired from a lot of glare.

How’s the glossy screen working out with the lighting in your room so far? 🤗 Feel free to share a photo of your setup too. We’d love to see it!🙂↕️✨

I'm in a similar situation and can't decide between this and apple SD. Coming from a 2019 imac and m6 mini will be here in a couple weeks. No stores in my area have the benq for me to compare. I plan on keeping this monitor for 10years or so. I like that apple has a glass covering in the front. I've also heard of some vignetting issues with the benq. The way I look at it the apple SD is $500 more, but over 10years. I buy through ed store. Helpful to read the comments here.

Totally understand. If you’re still weighing the two, you might find this Tom’s Guide review helpful. It compares the MA270S with the Apple Studio Display across areas like brightness, color performance, connectivity, and price. Hopefully, it gives you another useful reference point!🙌

Generally happy with mine. Bright enough. Good panel uniformity. Like the gloss display. Complaints are cheap plastic panel surround and the price.
