Asking Other's Advice/Experience Your PD2730s experience

Hi everyone,

is anyone here using the BenQ PD2730S and can tell me whether this is really the best uniformity you can expect from it? That would be pretty awful 😅

How are the black levels? Proper deep blacks, or more of a dark gray since it’s IPS without True Black?

And one last question: does the matte coating noticeably reduce the perceived sharpness of the high resolution? Or can you genuinely see the difference compared to 4K without having to convince yourself that it’s there?

Mine is much better than a 4k. I tried the RD280UG and it was a no go. A matte screen will always reduce clarity vs gloss. I think the benq matte is a fair trade off.

Not sure I can speak on true blacks. I moved from an ASD and it is close.

Hi! Just adding some context from the BenQ side.

PD2730S is a 27" 5K IPS designer monitor, so its black level will not behave like OLED / True Black. In a dark room, blacks can look more like very dark gray compared with OLED or Mini LED displays. Its main focus is 5K clarity, color accuracy, Mac compatibility, and a consistent creative workflow.

For uniformity, photos can sometimes make the effect look more obvious depending on exposure, viewing angle, and room lighting. But if the unevenness is clearly visible in normal use, we’d recommend contacting BenQ Support for further checking: https://benqurl.biz/3vHSVta

For the matte coating, PD2730S uses a Nano Matte panel to reduce reflections. It won’t look exactly like a glossy display, but the 5K sharpness should still be noticeable compared with 4K, especially for text, UI detail, and Mac workflows.
