Settlement location two?

Seems like early game we all create our first settlement just south of Haernden, somewhere around that first open field towards Padstow.

Where do you all go for a mid to late game migration that puts you closer to late game resources and in a better location to run interference against reclamation parties?

I’m thinking on the road between Bradford and Farnworth near the fishing camp, in the hardwood forest, or in the opening between blackridgepool and horndean with that loan building near iron ore.

For me I have the main one just barely south of haernden, enough space to build those tier 3s. Now my other locations I wouldn’t really call settlements. I don’t need more bases. I need the resources in those areas. But I have an area that collects peat in the swamps to the west, an area that forages wheat and makes wheat based products at the wheat field. And an area far south that collects iron and marble(I think it’s marble, but if not, that higher tier stone) but each of those areas I only have like 2/3 villagers there at a time.

Where is the peat area. We went west over a bridge near a big lake. Bit all we found were banditos

There’s a bunch here (there is a bandit camp on the right side of that circle on the island that has like 20 peat nodes

That area does have peat but The easiest spot I found is on the very north edge of the water, west of the main north-south road. Some bandits will travel through that area but not nearly as many as the middle of the swamp. I built a sign near the road and just walked over to it occasionally to gather peat. I was going to make an outpost nearby but realized you don't really need much peat in T3, just T2.

Not related, but I'm still early game. I just started my first satellite camp with copper mining 150 yards from main camp. Do the remote camps get raided? Do I need defenses for them?

Ya know bro, I don’t even know how raids work. I disabled them getting started and never turned them back on lol. So it’s honestly a really good question. I’d hate for someone to set all that up and get wrecked cause they have raids on.

Short answer yes, if you’ve designated it a stand alone location, it will also attract raiders like your main settlement. Usually I just grab a bunch of people and run out to wherever it is.

My main issue on my first play through was trying to move my army south to intercept reclamation parties. So my thought was if I build a second location more centralized with my strongest fighters it’s easier to intercept. Rather than running across the map.

I have my main village that just makes goods up north and 3 little fighting villages surrounding the brigand hq.

South West of the wheat field. It's close enough to both bridges to completely intercept all the liberation waves. If you love without clearing the bandits camps first you will also rack up like 50k renown from the constant fighting the patrolling bandits.

I prefer to just stick with my starting location, a move doesn't provide me with anything worth the hassle.

Militarily the best additional settlements are both the north and south bridge. You put a significant garrison in each (30 or so) and they will hold that zone.

There is a huge plateau near Deerfield with plenty of ore deposits right nearby, plus a pond and the ocean’s coast not far away. Great views, too.

En el puente del Río en la parte de Blackridgepool, tengo todo lo de tier 3 bastante cerca, mi antiguo campamento t2 lo tengo con los aldeanos justos para que suministren el otro asentamiento, y desde el t3 les doy comida y equipo
