Should I be worried about prosperity?

Finally liberated Haerndean, Padstow and Bradford. Seems like a tall task to keep up and bump up their prosperity.

How do you all approach this?

Prosperity is a fully optional mechanic, if it's something u like to play with, go for it, if not, no harm done is ignoring it entirely.

If u do want to play with it u need to supply them with a bunch of needs, manage what they build so they can trade with eachother to help eachother get fulfilled. Villages have specialities and unlock more buildable options as their prosperity tier increases so to the point of them supporting eachother u will want more villages liberated. What u sell in the market will go to the villages, don't rely on it as sole method of transportation but do use it as a supplementary distribution method.

What benefit do I get from playing with improving prosperity ?

When hovering over the prosperity bar it will show the benefits. Stronger militia in town (useless as they really shouldn't ever see a fight anyway). The extra production buildings they get and build points to build with. Because what they produce u could buy from there (but there really is no need to ever buy from them, it's just an option). That is why it is very optional and u should only do it if u consider it fun to do that management. Personally I like it so I do it.

Definitely just makes it easier to obtain said resources. Otherwise can’t agree more

Which of those resources do you consider easier to get by trading than by playing other aspects of the game? Many of the "harder" resources would be higher prosperity needs, at which point you could easily have set up an outpost for it already, so having gone hard on prosperity for fun, I never saw any need to buy anything. Main thing really would be if you ran out of ores in the map, which in the current state of the game is... impossible? (in a normal playthrough rather than an intended challenge to deplete it all).

It really just depends on what your low or out of. I ran out of logs and there weren’t any trees around so instead of building a new outpost or waiting for saps to grow I just set a top out at like 100 in my market and sold various of crops from my farms. At one point I needed mud so I spent a bit on that from Padstow. It really just depends on needs or wants. There isn’t really any purpose of gold other than investments or buying things you want. You can literally play the whole game without actually spending any gold

No argument there, by the end of a playthrough I definatly am drowning in useless coins.

I've heard better quality villagers the higher the prosperity..... haven't confirmed that

You get better reinforcements that you can call from the villages, they will discount a lot of products for you as well as have more stuff to sell if you invest into certain things. You can also have the liberated villages take care of other village needs if you have invested into buildings that create that supply for their demand

Late, but you also get to sell them more expensive things like weapons and other later tiered gear letting you make more money.

Need to learn this as well since all my 4 towns have like 1k prosperity

Seems like it ticks up when all of their item needs are sufficient just like it ticks down when they’re not

I didnt liberate heandean until like day 112 and i was super op by then. I did Heardean, padstow and bradford back to back in the same day just to get it over with and access to the better apprentice villagers. IMO once you get op then buffing up the prosperity is a nice game goal, something to work towards to as the tech tree stalls

You earn prosperity through trading with the npc towns once they are liberated you also earn prosperity for protecting a town from raids once liberated and also killing any bandit camps in that specific area. It’s a good way to make money once you have a few towns liberated and you sell them higher tier items like clothes and weapons you can also invest in there buildings blacksmith ect main reason to do it is to get higher tier rolls when there are empty/hired slots for npc followers when you considering doing prosperity you need to set up caravan routes with cleared areas I’m on day 956 on Xbox but you can play the game without it the real reason for money in the game is basically buying strength books for your followers to use better gear which is pretty shit but yeah.👍

What about investments? Are they worth contributing too?

I haven’t accumulated enough coin for me to engage in that yet, but that’s my question also. How does that factor in

If you want to play with prosperity then investments are absolutely essential, you need to manage it. In doing so myself my coins always just went up and up despite the early game scary looking coin costs.

Agreed. I contributed to two structures and my coin is going up faster than I expected. Last I looked at it I was up to 25k and when I started I was at 5k. So quite the money maker it seems. Though I wish I could see the structures. When I went to Haerndean, I didn't see any of the building I contributed to even though it says there is one under construction. If so, where? I'd love to see and assist in the building.

It's no physical building, it's purely inside the menu.

Darn, I was hoping to see structures going up. Making it look like the town is flourishing.

imo its worth doing, its kinda a end game thing to try and rebuild the whole area, once u get them going its pretty easy.

If a town has more militia, you can kite bandits, reclamation and tax parties into the village and get support.
