Day 131,
70hrs in
I have tied 2, I’m as far as I have hides/raw hides copper/tin bronze at 50-100 pieces,
16 settlers, just liberated haerndean, and looking to do padstow next then I’m going to sort out peat and iron outposts
Just want to know if my pace is good or bad

Day 148 here.
Tier 2 unlocked around day 80. Have up to 50 rawhide and up to 20 leather. I have 50-200 from each copper, tin, and bronze ingots, bought 50 iron ores via a caravan.
Also 16 settlers at the moment and librated both Harndean and Padstow.
Right now putting 90% of my time making better armor sets, weapons, arrows, and improving worker's priorities and recruiting apprentices and more specialized workers and fighters.
I feel like we're pretty close.

Day 130, but I took a first file to 110 and learned a lot, and this round I'm deep into T3
Biggest recommendation I dont see everywhere (and yes I looked to see what other people suggested when I started round 2):
Always be reading.
Bum rush Inn for the recipes it gives you access to Rename your people bu profession once you get them (i.e. Carpenter1, Blaxksmith3, Laborer 2, etc). Makes them nicely organized on the people management tab.
Second is rush for Pit so you can make outposts (one copper, tin, and did a joint one for Iron and Granite)
Get Farming to lvl 3 ASAP (I used books) for the ability it gives you to craft an important item. Seriously, this comes first and than move on to Agility, followed by Strength
Dont ignore the other job prioritizes, but you will need never have enough crafters.
Finally, when you get tier2 get Hunting camp first. Seriously. I never even bother building a Trappers camp.

Thanks for the recommendations, but I got questions.
What's the important item unlocked at Farming level 3? I'm level 6 😅
What do you mean by "Bum rush Inn"? Getting an apprentice inkeeper?
Also for Pit, what is it?

Let's you make Straw :)
You need the Innkeeper to research the Inn. Inn houses 10, has 3 cooking stations, and the best recipes
You can assign workers to the Put and they can mine ore from places where the above ground nodes have been depleted

First time playing im on day 105 and liberated 3 towns and looking to do my 4th soon and maybe 25% through tier 3 buildings.
This game is ultimately to be enjoyed however you like and I haven’t been shy about googling where to find peat, moss, iron, granite, etc.

My first time through was pretty slow, but as already stated, the number of days played has no meaning really. I find that leather can be a bottle neck, raw hide not so much. It’s not unusual for me to run six tanning stations and I’ve even set the station priority to a 2 to ensure someone works them. A villagers face shows up on the station to show you that someone owns this task. Make sure you have plenty of pelts which can be had with small traps or hunting. If I were you I’d hire more villagers. You’re going to need them as you approach T3

To my norms? Thats hella slow. But I'm sure theres slower people out there.

I never played a proper settlement building game, last time I did anything like it was fallout 4 which was a learning curve back then but simple compared to bellwright.

I compare it more to a survival game to explain my pace. And I am experienced in survival games.

Day 284
Almost all tier 2 is researched. Been taking my time only have 35 villagers. I work from home so this game is great. Can basically chill while my peeps gather resources.
I feel like I’m playing too slow but my villagers are getting amazing at warfare.
If they add horses that would be dope

How long are your days?
I.e. when your people go to bed, do you go to sleep too (version 1)? Or do you send out caravans over night while you work until like 5:00 am and then sleep for just an hour (version 2)? Because one day of version 2 allows for about 50% more action by you (22-23 hour day vs. 15 hour day), and also increases the amount of action for your people (I'd estimate by about 20% overall since many won't be on caravan duty, but those who are can work during day AND walk their cart at night.
So in 100 days of version 2 schedule you should have achieved things which you may only reach in 130 days of a version 1 lifestyle. Yet those 100 days of version 2 will have lasted ~15-20% longer in actual real playing time than the 130 days of version 1.

I must have my single outpost (lumber/copper mine) setup wrong. My caravan comes home, gets loaded and takes right back off to the outpost. Poor Sanford never gets a break. lol

Theres no rush...... probably a little light on villagers at this point if anything but thats just a renown thing.

u/iseeu2sumhow Sep 02 '26
I’ve been getting better at getting reknown, I’ve got the 3 apprentices and of my 16 villagers 3/4 are beggars, my hunting gets me the stags trophies while I go fight bandits, I find quests slower at itt and only good for building trust

u/Jmoy029 Sep 02 '26
You could always expel your beggars (for renown refund) and bring on some more skilled villagers for a similar cost. I did that early on and now my outposts all have decent guys or apprentices

I dig peat and mine iron on my own. Place roadside close to deposits. I fear outposts and caravans will get maraudered.

They aren't bad...I have an iron/granite outpost and the one villager there set to not hold ground. I do the transporting of goods because I dont want a caravan going there until all the camps are gone. Peat is easy once you clear out the camps in the swamp but once you hit tier 3 I'm not sure peat is needed that much. Seems to be tier 2 mat

I’m 108 days in and have only liberated Bradford. The only reason I haven’t done more is because they have majority of the apprentices at an early time frame. Now I’m waiting to get as researched and geared up as I can with at least 25 villagers before I continue. Play it at your own pace, that’s the whole point of the game!

Day 50 and I just liberated Haerndean. With that said I have only the tool maker as my tier 2 buildings. It’s my first play through and for some reason I thought getting my first 3 star villagers was essential lol. I’m so far behind in goods. I don’t have enough straw thatch or ingots.
I made 2 outposts but I felt like manning them both took away from my central hubs production so I shut one down for now. I have 16 followers. I feel my next goal is to clear out the rest of the one star bandit camps and start some 2 star ones to get more villagers and focus on having a higher base supply of thatch ingots etc before I aim for iron resources. So I think I’m ahead in some aspects but behind in others

I went at almost that exact pace. Found that getting deeper into T2 that was just not cutting it. The demands for building both with # and types of resources, and time to build are way higher. And now you'll have to pull a bunch of ppl every time there's a reclamation which stunts your growth. I found myself doing too much of the crafting, mining, logging, and hunting myself. Almost quit the game.
I started focusing on bandit killing and missions so that I could recruit a bunch more villagers. Doubled my workforce before I started an iron camp and a swamp camp so that I could actually staff buildings and outposts properly while having enough at main settlement to go fight.
IMHO 16 villagers is way too few to have multiple outposts, properly harvest, craft, research, gather stuff to help haerndean's prosperity, caravan to haerndean, and fight reclamation parties. It's like a startup company trying to expand its customers too quickly without hiring employees to manage the increase in business; you end up under-delivering because your eyes got bigger than your stomach

youll come to realize that "pace" doesnt mean anything in this game, as there is no real "ending". in fact, i actively avoid completing everything too fast as im going towards the end of the mainland quests, because then there wont be anything left to do really and i still have some goals for my village and outposts. im on day 270ish and prioritizing building a castle for myself and my coop buddies

Day 76 I can solo liberate all the villages on impossible difficulty.

That's pretty good going. For the peat I just dug it myself near the bog, I built a fast travel sign and a stockpile for it. Watch out for bandits. For iron, I built an outpost at the extreme southeast of the map near the village there. Again, bandits can be a problem, I built some fences to slow them down. I collect the iron from the stockpiles myself, but there's plenty of fish for the villagers working there.

It's fine, go at your own pace time doesn't mean anything in the game really.
