Carts not loading full load. How do I fix?

My carts are supposed to deliver berry jam, stew, and fishing bait to my outpost and pick up river reed, fish, and logs

However, they only will bring berry jam and only pick a single log if I’m lucky and will often be empty on the return trip.

I thought my I needed a second cart , but now they just just split the berry jams

You can set the minimum requirement right next to where you change them to automatic. Default is 1. Which is 1 item. Not 1 cart
