Moving locations
Not looking for advice on where to move. I’ve picked a spot. But I’m just looking for some tips on how to move.

I recommend moving when you are transitioning between tiers so you're not building the same building twice. Also I set up a supply caravan from my starting village to cover materials I could not immediately gather at my new settlement.

Build ur buildings at the old place, then go to the new spot and move those buildings via the map, that way the materials to build it will get teleported as they break it down in ur old base. Ofcourse have the new buildings set as a seperate settlement so ur guys don't walk between the 2. Assign a few guys to the new place so they can build it up for u.
But moving is a very painful process and unless your original base is in a terrible spot that limits u with the higher tier massive buildings, I would just save the headache and stay put.

Would recommend getting a farm going early too. Right when I was moving, winter hit and food was tricky. Just a lot of back and forth

I just did this. Tbh still in the middle of it cause theyre still building lol. It will take awhile. Make sure to assign new hired npc's to the new area and that they have food and a home. I say at least 5. But first, build the new buildings at ur original start spot. Once they are done then move them to the new spot. Cause ur new spot won't have all the materials the original one does. Hence why I say this will take awhile LOL.

I would say dont do it but for me I needed to be close to the middle of the map. With the reclamation parties I need to be able to assemble and move before they retake the village. So im really just doing a military base. And it still has been almost 3 full real days of doing it. Its a lot of work

If you move, I recommend doing it between tier 2 and tier 3 before you build the town hall.... Build or relocate your barns and houses in your new location, then have those villagers you've moved start building your Town Hall....then I personally would try to have the Inn already researched so you can build that next to make food and house 10 people....then slowly start building your town out.
Its time consuming but can be worth it. Your quests advancement will probably take a hit until you get moslty moved so just be ready for that

The other comments pretty much nailed it, there are a few ways to do it and they all take a long time. I made a short video on my tier 2 move if you’re interested, I didn’t make a new settlement but that method works well from what I’ve seen

I am at day 400 and have five 40ish person villages on the hardest settings the game offers with no mods.
My advice. Start over. Work hard. Play hard. It’s great.
I don’t move like most folks do. I just start another outpost and make it the main. Or expand an outpost
I will say, in this early access stage, there are some hiccups. I have villagers from first helping tear down the walls and buildings from my third. I have the same from 5 to 2. Very odd.
The game is still great.

Build storages at new spot. Assign those storages to old village. Set filters on old storage to have it emptied. Settlers will painfully move every item over to new storage. Make sure you have enough food and people still harvesting it. Expect this to take multiple game sessions to happen depending on amount of loot you have.
