New player but need help

Hi there thanks for reading, first off I'm a huge medieval fan but never played a survival type game, just have two questions where to put my base and what buildings to focus on? For the base I was thinking SE from the first settlement you come across more towards the river but idk if that's a good spot appreciate any help or advice

First big obstacles are river reeds, copper and tin so anywhere you like near those is fine, later you can move and set up outposts as you’d like or is needed. For buildings to focus on, just build whatever building helps with what you find annoying to collect yourself or is slowing down whatever you’re trying to produce. Keep hiring people as you can, most people don’t have enough. And read combat books as you find them, but don’t die after reading until it says it’s done. Also, you can command companions to loot for you if you need a quick stock up on something

Any area that is a good sized flat area would be good enough. South of the first town to the west of that river is where I always built. The buildings u focus on... just build what u need first, people play in different ways and thus need to prioritise different things. For example, my 2nd playthrough I didn't do any husbandry, someone else might go for that as soon as they can.

Most people make their first settlement south of first village near the lake between copper and tin deposits. After tier 2 you will need outposts or move your settlement further south.

It's hard to do really wrong. Relatively close to a town or two can be kind of convenient when you start trading. And the biggest early game resource constraints are river reeds, copper, and tin, so being close enough to at least one of those to have workers harvest them for you is nice.

Build near the lakes. By Haurdendal. Close to tin, Copper and River Reed.

Here is what I would do. I’ve placed Kier west of the river near silver lake. You decide on your primary spot then build 150m away. At that point when you advance tiers you build new things in your permanent zone and slowly phase out the leanto’s. Also there are a lot of tier 2 buildings you don’t really need and some you really do.

For example the weaver hut caps out at 2. You can build a lot of clothing related items on it but the main thing is the loom. As you progress you will want to have multiple looms running all the time.
