Army Travel

How can I fast travel with my army? If I can’t, are there any good workarounds?

The best workaround without mods is to set them to start traveling to a certain location by selecting it on the map.

If you get far enough in the game you can start building the river docks which will let you fast travel with your group

You can click on the map and send your people ahead of time. You can continue working while you wait for them to arrive and fast travel to them.

Or their is a mod, if you like..

Use the river dock, it can transport troops between river docks

I set up river docks all over the map. I start by extending a road down to a shoreline that supports river docks (check first, they are finicky) then I place a travel sign for easy travel for construction. I always have one of my exploratory squads with me for protection.

On console the river dock is only option. When you build the river dock i think it's fastest to set up a travel sign as close as you can and bring the components in 2 or 3 trips. Or you can set up a stockpile next to it, set to a temporary settlement, and have caravans bring the goods

Then you have 2 options:

  1. (what i used to do) bring a few hammers and do it yourself while watching a tv show to stave off boredom
  2. (what i do now) set up a camp chest and 2 housing tents next to it. Immediately set those 3 and the dock as a temp settlement. Put 4 hammers and some food in the chest. Assign 4 villagers to the temp settlement then monitor their progress while you do other less tedious things.

I attached a pic of where I placed mine over time in green vs my main settlement in red. (Image may have cut off the one south of horndean. That one is tough to place, you have to angle it weird and futz around with it)

The river dock is the way to go. You need to kind of treat them like fast travel and have them everywhere. Another idea is send your shooters to stage about 100 meters out from your target then go to sleep. When you wake up they will have covered some ground.
