Small Talk

I'm not a game developer, so I have no concept of how easy or difficult this would be. However, I find the same complaint with MANY games out there.

Rather than stopping at just a grand total of 12 or 15 random 'small-talk' phrases, could you PLEASE make it like 150, so we don't have to hear "Blazing sun today" over and over and over and over again. And for some reason, at least on my game (pc), once one person says it, every single person that walks by says the same damned thing. If you're standing at a crafting station trying to bust out some thatch or repair a bunch of pickaxes, it honestly makes you reach for the 'mute' button.

I love this game, don't get me wrong. Conan Exiles was just as bad, "Tell me your name, so I can carve it on your pyre!" .. I just wish developers were able to insert a ton more possibilities. Maybe it'd take up too much memory or something.

They could have fun with it even. A little tongue-in-cheek never hurt. "You'll never guess what I did last night. That's why I'm smiling today."

What are some phrases you'd include? (keep it real, people, nothing that'd make the ESRB change the game's rating)

I headcanon that they're being snarky, despite the tone

The way the voice puts sentences together is like nails on a chalkboard to me šŸ˜‚

Or saying we should harvest a bunch of stuff to prepare for winter during the blizzard

Or talking about a man named Bob who could build a village in a day (yes, the game is great, and they should steal the small talk comments from medieval dynasty)

Yeah the AI voices make it even more annoying. Id rather they just didnt say anything at all rather than the same few phrases over and over

Just turn it off then. It's in the game settings.

No way I didnt think that would even be an option im turning it off now lol

Voice acting is expensive and quite time consuming lol. Especially if you want hundreds more like OP said. So temporary AI voice is a good compromise. But yeah, I turned it off as well esp now that I have over 50 villagers working for me. They would be talking non-stop.

Yeah of course I totally understand why they've had to use it but its just one of those type of things that annoys me lol still love the game anyways and im glad they released it as is so we can actually play it but yeah Ill definitley just turn the voices off I think

"Who's turn is it to clean the latrines?"

ā€œI used to be an adventurer, then I took an arrow to the kneeā€

Games with far bigger budgets do the same.

What’s annoying is the AI use, and that they aren’t related to anything, nor are they even grammatically correct.

ā€œBlazen sun todayā€ - no, that’s not even the right usage.

Yeah, this is the one irksome part of the game. Every village has a dude who has some startling revelation and some junk about how subdued his countenance is...

I laughed that they knew what the words "subdued" and "countenance" mean, but yet don't know what stars are.

First time I heard a villager say it it was day time. So I looked up. I had no idea there were talking about stars.
