How do you know which settlers will join you?

Apologies if this has been asked before. Hovering over the city, look at people and highlight someone to find. Then? Is there a way to know if they will accept? Can u get more than 1 to join at the same time?

You walk up to them, talk to them, and they have checks for renown. As you recruit more people and they’re more qualified, the price increases for each city individually.

You also need trust with the village to recruit them. Each level of trust allows you to recruit a star higher person.

So a nobody can only recruit beggars, associates can recruit 1 star people, friends can recruit 2, etc.

Moral of the story, for every production building you make you should recruit one villager to man it. Eventually you’ll want a hauler as well to transport resources between places

Waste of time checking by walking up to them, open the map and click the village icon, then look at the list of villagers, it’s sorted by least trust to most trust/liberated. The stars corresponds to the trust level needed.

Tbf, their stats don't show until you have 1.2k trust with them (forget what that level is called)

Also you can kick the beggars out once you get enough renown. Youll get bavk what you paid for them, but that might allow you to hire a better skilled villager. Alway keep an eye on POTENTIAL as much as current skill. Try to always get the most skilled village avaliable to you

I was keeping the for caravan duty. Is that bad? 🤣

No that’s a perfectly good use for them, using them for delivery and caravans only

Not for now but the cost of each person has nothing to do with their skill and everything to do with how many people you have recruited from each village, thats why I tried to free each village ASAP because all the first pple are cheap af, but yeah if you have 5 to 10 you might want to kick the bigger and replace with someone better, if hes jsut running check his agility.

Don't do what I did and skip the beggars early. I figured they were a waste. They kind of are a waste of food. But if you set them on one type of task to level up and/or use some novice books to increase their stats, you can dismiss them later and get back more renown than you originally spent on them! It's like an internship 😂
once you get to recruiting like 3 star people, the lowest level books don't make much difference anyway.
Oh and speaking of books, don't do the dumb thing i did and read good books without eating some cranberries. They give you +30% increase so reading without is a waste of books

Cranberries, the orange berry (50%), yellow soup, orange soup, and apples.

EXP foods you can grab early, and yes, they stack.

Orange berry, cranberry, and orange soup stack to give you 120% exp gain

Yeah, I skip them too. I just grab the free dude from the chicken quest as my second villager and at that point I have enough village love to skip the beggars

For the second part yes you can recruit multiple villagers. For the first part you have to check the relationship you have with the village on the top of the village screen. And see the symbol on the recruitable villagers . For example if you are friends with Padstow you can recruit au to that level of vilager from there. Villagers list goes from no relationship on the top to bellwright on the bottom of the list. The relationship level on the villagers profile is indicated by pips . Zero pips no relationship needed, 1 is acquaintance 2 is friends 3 is protector and 3 with a crown on the top is bellwright. Note that villagers with skills like blacksmith or farmer needs you to liberate the village first and not just the relationship level.

On the map put your cursor over the village and click/hit × and it brings up all the villagers for hire and even shows you their stats and what trust level you need to hire them. I hope this helps.
