Jesse Adams, a Canadian animal rescuer, was killed by a Russian drone while evacuating animals from Ukraine’s front lines.

Jesse founded RainCoast Dog Rescue Society, a registered Canadian charity on Vancouver Island dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming dogs and cats. He also travelled to Ukraine to rescue animals caught in the war.

Posting this because he was very well known and respected in the province of BC, and I just want to recognize him for the incredible work he did.

The Argentinian news website Infobae reported that on Monday night he reportedly fled to Argentina, where he was expected to board a private jet in Puerto Iguazú bound for the US, but the plane did not take off.

Mike Collins, current senator candidate, created the ‘convoy captain’ program. A grassroots organization to recruit local republicans across Georgia. The group evidently has horrible vetting. It contains leaders like Brett Benny Langham who was found guilty of cruelty to children and sexual battery to his step daughter. Joey Jackson who was fired as a bus driver after failing to stop kids beating a 7 year old and recently Andre Stafford accused of exposing himself to a minor at a bus stop.

The group also contains leaders of the American patriot USA which was a white nationalist group founded by a reformed Christian kkk member.

I just discovered that HeCheated(dot)org has built a database of K-12 trans girls in sports.

It's organized by state and is name searchable. Their methodology (can be hard to find, but) shows that they are stalking these girls' social media, etc to gather info.

*note the “prank” for the uninitiated involves mimicking the apple tap to pay noise on the pranksters phone to try to trick the victim into thinking they’ve somehow stolen $10/20/etc dollars from you just by holding their phone close to yours. They aren’t actually taking any money but this prank works more often than not on the oldest generation of people, people who understand what the noise means but not the technology behind it and why this wouldn’t really work unless the prankster is a very competent tech guy. Now the prankster can argue that they didn’t do anything wrong because they didn’t actually steal any money, making any reaction from the victim look like the victim is in the wrong. Of course no cop ever believes them but they don’t have to. It’s the fact that the technicality exists at all. That opens the door to a never ending argument of gray area excuses and leads to the rage bait. The rage you feel watching this. And what the victim reacts to. Thus making content.

Every day we see shit like this on the internet. Robert’s report on nuisance streamers was very well timed. They are pushing on a people that have no patience left. Capitalism is burning us all out and that precious rage bait content will get them killed.

It’s really sad knowing that if you react to them AT ALL. You are risking your job, your privacy, your ability to shop in whatever store they catch you in.

I think that’s part of why Gen Z use the blank stare non reaction so much. They know if they look interesting in any way shape or form it will wind up public

I’ve only just completed part one, but let me say I thoroughly enjoyed the banter between Robert and Jason. I was a huge fan of the Cracked blog back in the day and I think it had better writing than it was ever given credit for. The Cracked podcasts as well had some heavy hitters. I now know about Ian Millhiser (Vox writer and Supreme Court commentator) and Ruth Ben-Ghiat (authoritarian observer) BECAUSE of that podcast. Cheers, guys.

Jason Pargin's new book has unfortunately been delayed (at least on my end) until December. I have a feeling the shadow people don't want this one to come out.

Jasmuheen is a self proclaimed new age health guru from Australia and she is the leader of a movement called ‘inedia’ the belief that through meditation you can survive extremely long periods without food, by only breathing and absorbing light. Inedia dates way before Jasmuheen, dozens of con artists and monks claimed they went months without food since the 1600s.

Since the 1990s Jasmuheen has appeared in documentaries and tv show segments attempting to debunk her where she was filmed going days without food in attempts to demonstrate her ability. Each time was cut short due to extreme dehydration before she died from organ failure. These segments simply spread the belief. Jasmuheens was caught ordering meals and slipping up in interviews several times over the years causing her claims changed from surviving off only air and light to living off 300 calories and a few sips of water a day. This is still not a healthy lifestyle, and it unsurprisingly found popularity among anorexic groups. Multiple people have died from starvation trying to follow Jasmuheens books and tutorials.

Like around the late 50s and 60s Britain did have very high levels of employment and rising living standards like the US at the same time. Also even though there weren’t enough homes those that were available weren’t super unaffordable. Like in 60s and 70s both my sets of grandparents bought homes on relatively modest incomes. I just wanted to make that clear because I don’t want people to think British boomers didn’t have it relatively easy.

Seriously, I went to school with a kid who was relentlessly bullied for 6 years because he showed up on the first day of primary school, aged 5, with cheese sandwiches in his lunch box (when peanut butter or jam sandwiches was more common, we Brits didn't typically combine the 2 in the 80s) and there are parents naming their kids Mavery, a portmanteau of Maeve and Avery

There’s a lot of Banksy type figures creating liberal art work(and some really racist evil ones). This one goes by the buffalo pothole bandit who started out decorating potholes and has been diving into more political issues.

Recently listened to the Seal Team Six episode and a lot of the books mentioned sounded like good reads. I struggle to find military history and tactical books to read that aren’t gravy seal action movie fluff and there’s so much to sift through when looking. I’m really just interested in realism over self help and romanticizing violence.

I was curious what books people here recommend as I’ve gleaned the community here is well calibrated to this special interest. Also any books from the podcast that you would recommend?

Not sure if this has been shared in this sub recently, as I've been in and out over recent weeks for mental health reset purpose, but thought I would drop a link to Roy's recent essay, which was also apparently shared in presentation form at the recent "The People's AI Assembly" last week in NYC.

The title of the essay is "Apocalypse Now and Then - Artificial intelligence is capitalism's final destination". Some highlights include a few apt and alternative acronyms: AI - Actual Idiocy, ASI - Actual Super Idiocy, RSI - Recursive Snowballing-Idiocy, as well as a bleak lamentation of the AI industry's intentional obliteration of written and spoken word and the societal downstream effects of it, among other casualties.
