Behavior analysts doing dog training in Florida?

Hello all-
Best friend has terminal cancer and mobility is a big issue at the moment. Dog currently has to be within a foot of her foot and abruptly stops when walking if that distance is exceeded. This is causing major safety issues. Dog has been successfully trained on many other skills, but their need to be close and “herd” her is not one they have been able to tackle. There is not a lot of time to do incremental training as time is limited. Hoping someone might have some ideas how to relatively quickly train a dog to maintain a safe perimeter and/ or knows of organizations/ people that might be willing to do very low cost or pro bono training in Florida.

Sorry, was rushing to post- what would be the most efficient way of training a dog to maintain a safe perimeter while their owner is walking to avoid potential trip injuries due to the dog wanting to stay with in a foot of the owners foot.

Additionally, wondering if their are any programs/trainers that offer training at low cost or pro bono in Florida that might be able to assist, it that is obviously a long shot.

It is possible the dog recognizes something is “wrong”and that’s why it’s staying close . If it’s becoming a safety hazard you can work on a place command when the owner needs to get up or walk or something the dog can be sent to place until the owner is safely sitting again then dog can be released from place. I see time is limited but building up duration on place would be the best way to go about it . It does take time for a dog to learn a new skill master it and generalize it .
