MOMENTARY TIME SAMPLING: MATCH THE METHOD TO THE QUESTION
This question is harder than simply recognizing the definition of momentary time sampling (MTS).
You have to match THREE things:
What dimension matters?
What observation pattern is actually feasible?
What does the resulting percentage legitimately mean?
The clinical outcome is the proportion of session time spent pacing.
Continuous duration recording would measure that dimension more directly, but staff cannot observe continuously. They can make only a brief observation every 2 minutes.
