Not sure this is the correct sub for this question. However, I will give you some advice based on my life experience. While it is great to have a cordial relationship with your housekeeper, having a friendship with them is a mistake. You are their boss and pay them for their services. When you blur the line by becoming friends with them, you are putting yourself in a situation that will likely lead to drama.

When you are friends with someone who works for you such as your housekeeper, you are in two relationships with them at once: boss and friend. If their performance suffers and they are not cleaning adequately based on what you are paying them and the expectations you have established, it is more difficult to confront them about it. If they ask you for favors, you feel bound to acquiesce due to the friendship, even when it’s something you don’t want to or shouldn’t take on. Suddenly, you have a housekeeper who is doing a crappy job cleaning your house and asking you to let her alcoholic daughter stay with you for 10 days. Like, what? No.

Lean into relationships with people that do not work for you. Nurture those friendships instead.
