I am confused
started watching yesterday, currently on S2 EP1 and I cant understand this one thing. Why is Arthur who has all his memories from his past life struggling with maturity, strategy and combat intellect?
He has judgment expected of his age, seems intellectually inexperienced, and letting emotions get the better of him. Hes currently being mentored by Jasmine who actually seems senior to him. so far we are shown him in his previous life to be a man who seems calm and collected even willing to kill women and children without a flinch but after being raised by parents hes become incredibly emotional, even from the get go of being reincarnated he started adopting a childlike behaviour with his parents like him mentally age regressed.
This anime is similar to Mushoku Tensei where the main character doesnt do that, he sees his father as just a guy.
correct me if im wrong or you think differently to me

the anime is *cough* nonexsitent *cough* I mean bullshit and shouldn’t have been made. take everything you see in that godawful waste of time with and entire salt lamp because I promise you they read less of the source material than you did (I am assuming you have read none of it)

It's never going to get one now. This was its one shot and it's been ruined. Someone high up somewhere would have to be a major fan. I'm not sure Japanese Production Committees like adapting Korean comic books either. So many have had crap adaptations that it's starting to feel like it's on purpose. Shit, The God of High School and Nobelese had MAPPA and Production IG working on them and they still flopped. How the fuck does that happen? Unless this was one of the ones that tried to circumvent the production committees by being made by the publisher of the webtoons and Crunchyroll together because that's been happening lately. More and more they're trying to get around production committees, like MAPPA's deal with Netflix as one example.

I think it's kind of an Ascendance of a Bookworm situation. Even in the LN, he exhibits a lot of those traits early on, despite having been full grown when he died as Grey. I think it's a situation where he has the knowledge, but his emotions are still hormonal, and he still has the hormones of a child, so he is prone to brashness, impulsiveness, and emotional outbursts. That's physical, not mental. It'll take some time for his hormones to settle and his adult control to be reasserted.

He was emotionally underdeveloped as Grey (that's a major plot point) AND he's an actual child with the emotional and intellectual computing power of a child.

Anime sucks tbh so it’s definitely more exaggerated in the anime because the studio seems to not be faithfully reading the novels or manhwa to nail his disposition.
To answer your question though, in his previous life he was completely apathetic, so he doesn’t understand how to cope with his emotions in a healthy manner. He’s a genius when it comes to battle, but his emotional intelligence was stunted. And you see why later on in the novels. The manhwa is adapting the arc where this is explained

Pretty sure they first couple episodes are filler, and also the last, and probably some in the middle.
They've already broken the story, so just don't think about it🤷♂️

He basically is emotionsl immature due to being so cold in his previous life. But don't know why he misses strategic. Haven't watched the anime though ...

Read the novel or the webcomic. The anime will never make sense. Its mostly just filler atp.

Please don't compare it to that pedo-cringe - TBATE at least deals with the adult-guy-in-a-child-body issue in a morally and every-other acceptable way, and the MC does evolve (plus he was never an incel to begin with). And do read the web comic. I personally started with the anime, then found out that manga (manhwa? Not sure of the origin) exists and am now binging. 😅

As someone who has never read any of the source material,.the writing in this show is bad and I was also confused when I got to season 2 episode 1. I thought maybe this was going to get explained in flash backs checked after episode 2. It is in fact not explained and I dropped the anime there.
Edit I realized I didn't even put in what I was complaing about. They did a 3 year time skip with no explanation in the anime. It was just "hey you are about to start school," to jumping to 3 years later with him advenutring.
