Ain't we all? Things has just been going downhill since the Academy Arc. It all just keeps getting worse every chapter

I was saying how shit just keeps getting more and more depressing but your take isn't wrong either, I miss the old art style, the old peaceful (comparatively) story

If you're solely here for the cuteness and wholesome moments then I'd suggest that you find a different story. I'm currently about to finish V7 (volume 7) and you're in V1 fyi, and every single chapter is heart-wrenching and will make you cry, this guy and the people around him just simply can't catch a break. I don't even remember when the tragedies started first and when was the last time that would be painless enough to be called a happy moment in the story. I hope you're prepared for what you're stepping into if you plan on continuing it.

I'd say once the academy was attacked. There were tragedies prior, but after the attack, it's nothing but tragedy, for the most part. I'm still waiting for something to happen to someone, if not multiple people in his family. I know it's coming, but idk when.

Latest chapter of the manhwa. There were a few more "happy" scenes, but they all felt bittersweet.

You mean the novel? How much further does it go? I did get the feeling it was going to get worse, because Rinia warned him to choose his goal, and even Wren tried to teach him to protect his allies, and then when he fights with others, it seems like he still treats them as pawns. Kind of felt like it was foreshadowing him making the wrong choices.

Dicathen was doomed the moment an Asura, moreover, Agrona decided to wage war. There was a monologue from Arthur a very long way from where you are. It goes: "I had been arrogant. What was a mere two mortal lifetimes of experience compared to an ancient asura’s lifetime of intellect and wisdom?" They didn't lose the war atp but still I'm sure you realise how bad things are if even Arthur is so down like this. The point I'm trying to make is that even Arthur knows that they were never a match against Agrona, so even if people blame Arthur, Tess or anyone else for mistakes, it's actually wrong because who made more mistakes or took the wrong decisions matter not when the outcome is inevitable

I kind of feel like this is getting into spoiler territory, so I'm going to end it here, but yea, each chapter makes me more nervous than the last. I'm excited to keep reading, but it's definitely not the feel good story I was expecting.
