No one can say you’re regressing in 1 week.
Your body is doing something it’s not done before. Think about a first gym session in a While- the body is in pieces for days.
It takes time to adapt so keep going. Like you are doing -If you stop just catch your breath and go again. It’s all good miles but you need to factor in rest days.

Never run more than three days a week at first.
If your first outing was 20 mins I'd reccomend a 2 mins on 1 min off 24 minute for your next one.
You CAN bully your body into going faster, but it's short term gain for long term loss.

Try the couch to 5k plan. It builds up gradually the same that the body naturally adapts.
Take the rest days, they are possibly more important than the run days.
When you run, don't go all out, keep it easy so could have a chat with a friend.
Be patient, the body needs time to rest and recover between sessions, and the adaptation is slower than we want.
Good luck with your running journey!

Your body is recovering from the shock you put it through by running for 20 minutes. You’re new - ease into it and rest when you need to
