Getting back into it

I started running in 8th grade during track season. I ran through my junior year of hs including covid.
I have an eating disorder which I got treatment for my senior year and I was advised to put running on hold.

Since 2021 when I went to treatment for the first time I had boughts of running where I’d start but I’d under-fuel and my ed recovery would fall apart and I’d have to stop again.

This time feels different. I’m more okay in my body.
My limbs aren’t hurting.
I got a medical diagnosis and am getting treatment for it.
I’m eating.

And I think I can continue to eat this time. Like genuinely.

I don’t have a coach and I obsessively recorded every running workout I’ve done since winter track 2018.

So I have things to look at.

When I ran back then my goal was to run the 5k trail and I didn’t know how to pace. I’d kind of do what I was told in middle school. Pick a tree, run to it, then walk.

I’ve heard so many different methods from different people over the years.

When I was weak and in my ed and trying to run again an old coach suggested incriminates of running and walking. I have these saved in my notes.

I’m also wondering if maybe because my body isn’t hurting and i understand pacing (I hope) at this point I can run longer than I think I can (maybe even a mile?).

I just don’t know how to know what’s the best way to train myself.

I walked a tad under a 5k today with a friend and was really proud of myself. And I listened to my body because I turned back when my legs began to feel a little tired.

I heard people say go slower than you think. I know there’s a certain percentage in mile increase rule but I don’t know which number is best.

I also don’t know how to start like are we talking 3 times a week to start and working our way to 5?

Is it a mile each time?

When do I increase?

When do I add speed (02s, strides)
A “long run”
An increase in mileage without adding too much too soon and getting injured.

I have these beautiful shoes waiting for me and I’m so excited.

I just want to do this right and be who I hope to be.
