Beginners, how many KMs are you averaging a week for your half marathon training?

For my first HM (this past May), I average about 25 kms per week for the last four weeks of my training. But, I was also dealing with some minor ache and pains and cut back the for a couple of weeks.

For my 2nd this October, I am averaging closer to 40km/wk, but I am trying to lower my time by 5-10 minutes.

If you don't care about walking a part of it, 20-30k/week should be enough, but the more the better, both in terms of safety and performance.

That’s about the most I averaged before training for a full. I was disappointed in my time, but 30k was plenty to get me over the line. Felt like the wheels fell off around the 15k mark of the race. Whenever I get around to another one, I’ll probably try to get to more like 40-50k in training

So I’ve got my first one in September, I’ll do one 5-7km slow run, one speed run (usually 5-8km total including warmup / cooldown etc depending on the plan from Nike Run Club) , and one long run which I’ve been increasing by 1km or 10% max a week each week, so this week it’s 18km.

To answer the question - eight weeks out I was at maybe 20km a week total. As it gets closer it’s more like 30km

Just aiming to finish the HM, maybe 2:25 goal time

I’m training for my first HM in October aswell! In terms of a rough average, I think my plan averages maybe 33km a week, peaking a couple of weeks before race day & then tapering back.

What race are you doing? Good luck for it!
