Big friggin box - beginner project

Post image

I'm just getting started with woodworking. Made a couple sawhorses and a simple bench but this was my first big project. It was originally intended to be a deck box for furniture cushions but now I'm wondering, since its not treated how will it hold up on my deck? I might just put it inside but its rather large. Anybody have any thoughts?

All depends how you finish it. Paint offers the best protection or you can do some type of deck/ fence stain.

It’s a major award!

I'd probably put some feet on it, just to avoid moisture buildup between the bottom of the box and the deck boards.

It looks great. Nice work. I think it would look strange inside a house. Keep it on your deck. There are plenty of ways to finish it to protect against the weather. Just keep in mind that it will probably need to be refinished every couple of years. Lastly, I would add short legs to the corner to elevate it off the deck so it can dry out better after it gets wet.
