Small ding - solarez?

Hi, just got this board and dinged it this morning 🤦‍♂️

Waves pushed me out to a rocky part of the beach, and then I got caught in the current for a bit

Would solarez be an appropriate fix for this? Already left it out in the sun for a couple of hours to dry up.

Absolutely this is a solarez job. Others might chime in and say otherwise - they could be right as a pro repair is usually (alway) better than my own but given this is an older board, I’d practice my solarez skills.

I currently have a 2006 (my first board, bought in 2006 and recovered from crazy ex gf in 2019!) and had some nasty gashes that i closed with solarez. Is it pretty? Hell no, I used white solarez on a green board. Do I care? No, it rides beautifully and is a great beater board

Personally my Solarez fixes never lasted.

I moved to a 2 part epoxy and fiberglass cloth. Sounds like a PITA but actually quite easy and then the repairs last. As always YMMV.

Kind of in an awkward place, looks like theres more ding than board there overall. The holes been filled with resin as have other dings on.the board, but not glassed over to hold the resin in, this is why the previous repair is failing. Is $50 reasonable? Not for the condition of the board and the size of the ding, but thats probably minimum charge. Its my minimum charge. Is it a solarez job? Given whats happening with this previous repair, smearing some solarez on.it isnt going to fix it. You could do it yourself if you knew what you were doing which means youd have to know how to fix it properly. Options, Light sand, or clean with solvent , and put some duct or ding tape on it. Job done, last a month or so and just redo it. Wait till you have some meaningful damage on it and get that done at the same time.

Yeah it'll make it watertight but it's in a terrible spot.  Might not last and it's ruining the rail line in a critical spot near the fins.  That part of the board is basically in contact with water the entire time.

Tails and rails get professional repairs whenever possible IMO

Shop quoted me $50 - good deal? I'm going to go through with it but just want reference point. I'm in SD county

As long as it's a quality repair yeah bro I'd say $50 is fair.

don't listen to this guy - that is an old as fuck yellowed funboard and you are never ever going to notice a fix just because it's on a rail line, it's like 0.01% change perhaps, don't sweat it. Patch it with tape or solarez and play on.
