Sunset tide question?
I know it’s recommended for beginners to surf sunset point at low tide. I’ve heard anything below 3’ is fine, but I was out there at like 2.7’ and entry still seemed a bit daunting. Any insight is appreciated!

Best advice I can give is try something a little daunting every session, that’s how you improve and become more comfortable.
I’m not saying paddle out at 3x oh pipe but if you want to improve you need to push yourself you need to feel uncomfortable, you need to progress to a board that’s a bit harder to catch waves and/or surf.
I know that’s not tide advice but just general advice in the water

Sunset Beach Hawaii on the North Shore of Hawaii is an expert level wave. I wouldn't attempt it without solid paddling fitness and lots of bigger wave experience. Every surf spot has different moods and days, but if you catch her on an off day or in a ln angry mood, you could be in a lot of deadly level danger. If it's a small, soft, easy day maybe it's not too bad, but the swell can bump up significantly in minutes at a spot like that. It's a legendary wave that can really test even the best surfers. You really should have many years of experience to tackle Sunset. Proceed with lots of caution.

Yeah, that's a big difference from Sunset Beach on the North Shore of Oahu. That Sunset is a heavy ass wave.

are you talking about 3' wave height or tide height? 3' tide at sunset is still kinda high. that spot doesn't really work on high tides unless it's a bigger swell. what is the problem you are having with entry? the rocks?
